HATE that he's one of those people who's like "I eat and eat and eat and I just can't gain any weight!"

I know Tiger wanted to make the Tour Championship, but I'm not so sure missing is such a bad thing.  He has played 8 competitive rounds the last 2 weeks and he knows what he needs to work on and now he has an extra week to get that all cleaned up before the Open.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I don't know about having an extra week to clean-up his swing.  He had a plenty of time to do so before BMW Championship. He is just not what he used to be.

He has too many other priorities.  I would be shocked if he made top 25 at the U.S. Open.

He played the week before.

Now, with 8 rounds under his belt, he can make some changes based on those rounds. Maybe a bit more time putting, among other things.

You were saying the same kinds of things before he won the Masters and the Zozo. I don't know what he's got in his system anymore, either. Anything we get is gravy. But I won't really speak out against him.

It's all gravy.

I think I probably got too excited after the Zozo and the Presidents Cup, feeling that since he was on such a tear after his knee surgery, that was the only thing holding him back last summer, post-Masters, and that as long as he was healthy he'd be back to consistently competing. Realistically, he's never going to be healthy at 44, spine or otherwise, so it's tough to expect too much week to week.

Kind of a frustrating few weeks though. It's been a lot of that 2010s Tiger where he'll have a good 6-9 hole stretch and then look pretty listless for the rest of the round. It would probably be easier to accept that if he a) hadn't already been doing that for a solid decade and b) didn't have three wins in the last few years, in each of which where he looked like he was in pretty good command of his game.

On the plus side, this year's Zozo is being relocated to Sherwood Country Club, where Tiger used to host the World Challenge, and where he has won a bunch of times (over super tiny fields, admittedly). They also moved the CJ Cup to Shadow Creek, where the original Match was held.

He probably won't play both of those, since they're in back to back weeks, but they're really the only events I could see him playing between the U.S. Open in September and the Masters in November.

Yes, I did.  And it was a pleasant surprise to see him actually win those events.  But he seem to be having more frequent health issues, which is not surprising given his age.

More importantly, now that his kids have grown up and needs more of his attention, in particular Charlie with winning his junior events, he may not have the time or the drive he once had.

I was like uh-oh, did something bad happen, no, just random appreciation, in Mickelson's own words.

    • I do not follow amateur or Korn Ferry tour but this story might get me to pay attention. At age 15 to be as accomplished as he is makes me think we may be seeing a future star.  A story of him breaking out may help reinvigorate golf viewership.
