As some of you know I have done some lessons with a right side swing coach. He is a really nice guy and a good coach but I have decided I would rather learn a more conventional swing. My problem is I feel it will be weird or even a bit harsh towards him to leave him for a different coach at the same driving range. This is the only driving range I can get to so for me to do lessons I need to go there. He has done me deals for my lessons making them cheaper because I am a student but as I said I want to learn a conventional swing so I really dont know what to do. I feel it will hurt his feelings if I go to another coach especially because he has helped me so much money wise. I have nothing against him or his coaching style and he is a really nice guy, the only reason im leaving is to learn a different 'normal' swing style...

I understand your hesitation, but at the end of the day, it's likely just business for him. I would approach him first though because if he just sees you with another pro at the same range, he may think that the other instructor "stole" you, and so it would be professionally courteous to tell him about your intended move before-hand.

Also, if you signed up on a package deal, like normally his lessons are $50 and you got six for $150 or something like that but only took two, then you should consider paying the difference for the lessons that you took as you're not honoring the agreement.

FWIW, my only issue with the RSS is that it doesn't seem to promote much of a pivot - most of the swings I've seen have less pivot ("shoulder turn") than we commonly see among good players. But you could simply ask him about that. I recall you liked working with him, and made good strides. So I hope that if you are leaving him it's for the right reasons and that you've given him a chance to explain.

    • I’ve used Golfshot in the past. 18Birdies has a watch app that I used a couple times.  GameGolf has one. There are others, I’m sure.  I currently use the watch app for Arccos, because I use that tracking system. Not sure about the “disappeared off the watch” problem.  I don’t recall doing anything special for setup, but whenever I raise my wrist with a round going, it’s got my yardage right there (Arccos and Golfshot for sure, I think it did with GameGolf, don’t remember with 18Birdies). Maybe try (in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone): General > wake screen > wake on wrist raise (and) Return to clock after 1 hour.  I don’t know of a way to improve battery life in the watch, but I usually put my iPhone in low power mode when I play, and that helps prolong the iPhone battery without adversely affecting the golf app function.  But using 21% of battery for a round doesn’t seem excessive (meaning you finished the round with 79% left).
    • Just finished LSW, great info.  Now I just need to apply it so I can claim a few achievements for actually shooting lower scores.
    • Work, life & rereading some chapters 3 times slowed down my reading of LSW but I did finish it tonight.  I think it merits more reads as the season progresses since some aspects can’t be practiced with snow on the ground.  I need to work out my shot zones and need to figure out how to do that.  I do not know a range where I can walk out to my target to plot them as suggested.  I am wondering if it can be done with TrackMan Range? Or if a fellow Michigander can suggest a place it would be appreciated. One thing caught me by surprise, I’ve read many comments about shot cones and expected to read about them in LSW, but I did not.  I’ll look back on Threads to see where I saw that and what they are. My main question is for myself, why did I wait nearly 9 months after joining TST to order the book.
    • Looking for some help on the above. Have had a Garmin watch for a few years without any issues and recently received the Apple Watch as a gift.   So far I’ve tried SwingU ( couldn’t make it work), Golfshot( it worked but disappeared off the watch every time I move my wrist )The Grint , mixed success.  I’ve used The Grint on four or five rounds ,couple of times it randomly disappears but easy enough to get back on.  last week it completely flattened my phone battery,49% usage.  I switched off 4G & background app refresh and next round had only 1% usage. Cracked it I thought, but today with the same settings it used 21% “ Location activity” 1 minute on screen, 3hr 39 in background . I probably don’t have the settings correct, any advice on that or on an app that you have successfully used appreciated.  I only need the gps for distance, nothing else
