Winning score is going to be higher than normal.....probably around -5 or -6 if that. This course is going to be very firm by Sunday, but I do expect Augusta to set it up for scoring the last day like they normally do.

Scott, Watson, and Snedeker are the 3 names that jump out at me as serious contenders early. Don't see Oosthuizen hanging around because of his back problems. Haas, Walker and a lot of those other names haven't faced major pressure yet.

The most surprising score to me is undoubtedly Zach Johnson. Did not see that round coming. Thought Dustin, Phil and Day would struggle because of their recent injuries, but ZJ's score came out of nowhere.

Graeme McDowell snuck in with a quiet 72. The reason his name sticks out at me is because he is one of the best fast-green putters in golf. The more difficult the greens get, the more McDowell tends to show up on the leaderboards. Will be interesting to see if he can hang around into Sunday despite the fact he doesn't have a good track record at Augusta.

Think we will see some better scoring tomorrow. Lot of guys coming back into it play. Agreed with the above, ZJ did not look good at all. Phil wasnt good but his score is a lot worse b/c of that triple. He'll bounce back a little tomorrow. Scott and Snedeker looking solid today. Upset about Day but not surprised given the injury. Gmac also lookin comfy on that course. Still gonna side with Bubba winning...as much as i dislike him.

Wow, can Chamblee have his nose any deeper in Scott's rear?

Only if Tiger had also played today and shot like +10.

Apologies if this has been said already (I ... haven't kept up with this thread, but I'll do so from here on out), but I just caught up on today's viewing and kept seeing a statistic that I know is wrong. I keep seeing that there are 24 first-time participants this year, the most ever, with second place being 1935 with 23 first-timers. Wrong! 1934's event had 60 first-time Masters participants. And when they talk about players who won the event in their first time participating, they generally omit Horton Smith. Edit, 9:55pm pacific: I just heard them give the statistic correctly on the Golf Channel, right before a special about Errie Ball (the last surviving participant of the 1934 Masters).

Aw, geez, thanks for the big fuggin reveal Bubba. Secret is one of the most vile and overused words in golf. Like finding some mystical long lost treasure will cure all. I'll tell ya a secret - there's a lot of snake oil in them thar hills.

Interesting sometimes to see who might be a member of Augusta National......

I hope he gets hit by a errant drive or three.
