Was given a used set of Cobra Amp Cell Pro ions 4-PW for my birthday a few days ago (it pays to have a friend in the golf industry who gets new blades every year :-) ). Does anyone play with these? I hope I can play with these with any type of confidence one day. Amazing looking clubs IMO...l ook at this PW!

I've also heard they were made exactly how Rickie Fowler wanted them. Look really really good :w00t:

Haha, not a fan of poulter then?

lol he's OK, I was just being an a-hole

Played an executive course with these today just to get a feel for them...first hole, 140 yards, 8 iron, hit it pure and almost jizzed in my pants. They rival Mizuno blades that I've hit, but they are a bit smaller in length of head. I was surprised I hit them well...no shanks, tops or chunks. Definitely lost 5 yards per club compared to my 825 Pros, but that could be worked out. I'm surprised not much has been said about these blades (that I've heard), they are absolutely amazing irons.

Fair enough, i think though if i wasn't British i would not like him at all. He just seems so cocky and when he's not playing well he comes across as really angry in his interviews.

But back to the irons. I saw a review on YouTube actually by Mark Crossfield and he did say they were amazing feeling irons with a little more "help" in them than appearances would have you first believe maybe.

I had a hit of the 6i at a demo day a few days ago and was really impressed. It is one of the bigger blades I've seen heal to toe, similar size to me MP-53s, and was a lot more forgiving than I expected. I didn't hit too far from the middle, but enough that I thought I would have seen a significant performance drop, but I really didn't. Very nice clubs.

    • Both @DaveP043 and I play in our interclub matches every year, and have been team Captains as well.  There are always a few courses, mine is one, that win a lot of matches (we've won twice in the last 7 years), and we've been labeled as sandbaggers.  However, I really think that our course was rated too low (our greens just never seemed to get factored in enough), and thus our Handicaps were always a stroke or maybe 2 above, what they would've been if the course was rated higher.  And then when we went and played other courses, their slope and rating were much higher than ours, and sometimes I would get a 2 or 3 stroke bump on top of that.  It was definitely an advantage.  However, this past year, our course was rated again and the slope has gone up, so we'll see if we continue to have the same benefit.  Season starts this Sunday for us.

    • I would not do anything until I met with an instructor and got your swing looked at. There are some obvious better club options out there though. Spend 50 bucks on a lesson, practice and start piecing together a bag that works for you. Enjoy the journey.
