Why not?

He answers the question posed by the OP and gives a specific reason why he may now consider getting his CCP. Seems relevant to me.

Agreed.

Sad to hear that but this thread is not really about that.

Sorry everyone-Brain fart. I apologize. I thought this was the Would You Play with a Golfer Who Had a Gun thread. Sorry. Flog as necessary.

Yes. Glock 23 (compact .40cal). Carry it everyday in a crossbreed supertuck. 5e78af05_image.jpeg

This is the gun I have as well. Bought mine in 1999. I have never carried but have at times thought about getting a CCW. Even if I did though I think I would carry a different gun as this one is kind of bulky.

Took the family to the shooting range and met up with a friend. I had not shot my gun in a loooong time so I wanted to make sure still could and also just cycle through some old ammo.

Being that the .40 cal in a short barrel has a good buck to it and that my wife had never shot before, we rented a Glock 42 which is .380 acp round. I have to say, it seems like a pretty sweet little sidearm. She did have a few feed issues from limp wristing, but once shown how to hold better it fired like a beauty. Now she wants one....in Tiffany Blue (see below) and I am thinking of getting one as well (not in Tiffany Blue)IMG_0631.JPG

Still conflicted on the CCW, for either of us. There are times I would feel bette having it, like when walking to my car after playing poker at some of the various establishments and other places I go too on occasion. I just know I would not carry every day, don't  see or feel a need for it. I have lived this long without having too, but I do sleep soundly at night knowing my Glock 23 is available should trouble come knocking at our home.

Wife also put about 70 rounds through my .40 cal which makes me feel a whole lot better. It bothered me that the weapon was in the house but she had never learned how to shoot it. Now I feel like I don't have to worry if ever a need arises.

I have mine. I'm not sure you can carry in the casinos, can you? My dad and I always had a guard walk us out if someone has a big night. I usually leave mine in the car when we play cards in Tampa.

Tis better to have, and not need, than to need and not have.... ;-)

Take a look at the Glock 43 too.  Pretty much identical to the 42, but 9mm rather than .380.

Since shooting the 42 have started doing some research. I know there is a massive debate about bullet size and many look down on the .380 but I feel like it's a round I can put 4-6 on target, and fast, faster and more accurate than a 9mm round. I may just go with that, plus it would be ideal for my wife for same reasons and then  we both have same rounds and can practice together.

I have never had a permit so not sure. I know the basics where you cannot carry like federal buildings, arenas, and bars, but not sure about casinos.

Did some looking and it appears you're correct. Apparently a casino is considered a "place of nuisance" (like a bar) so not supposed to carry there. I find it interesting that some places such as that are off limits. It seems like you can't carry at an establishment with a reasonable need.

CCW laws vary by state. Around here you can carry on a Reservation, including a casino, w/ permission from the Tribal Gov't. I don't know who owns the casinos in other states or how that works. Maybe one day we'll get National Reciprocity and have to figure it out.

Here you can carry concealed in any place of business if you are the owner of the business. This includes bars.

Nice! I just shot a friend's at the range. It's really compact, and shoots double tap nicely. Also, it's a real "concealed" carry. Apparently, some posters here carry 40SW with 13 round magazines. :-D

We can also get CCW here in So. Cal., but just not LA county. So, if you own property in those areas you can get a CCW. However, I'd never use it unless I'm trying to extract a family member from a gang or whatever, whereupon I'd need my CA C39V2 or Sig 716 Patrol with illegal capacity magazines at a minimum anyway. :-D

Yes, I have my CCP for my Glock 33 (.357 subcompact), but rarely take it anywhere.
