I have prescription Oakley sunglasses.  Reason,  I like them is you can change the lenses.  Not cheap at all that they are all prescription but you have to do what you have to do.  I have clear, yellow and the darkest they make.  All for depending on how the sun is that day.  I love them. I actually I wear them all the time as my normal glasses with the clear or the yellow I love them that much.

Agree 100%.

I wear contacts too, and my eyes are extremely sensitive to glare.  I was never able to wear sunglasses on the course though because I was distracted by light bleeding through from the sides.  At the recommendation of a buddy, I tried the Oakley Flak Jackets in the G30 lens, and haven't looked back.  The lens is dark enough for bright, sunny days, and light enough that I wear them on cloudy days too for the contrast they provide.  They also stay where they are.  Even on hot, sweaty days, no slippage.

HIGHLY recommended!

I spent a few years agonizing over spending so much money on sunglasses specifically for golf (I'm a tightwad).  I finally pulled the trigger and couldn't be more pleased.  The G30 iridium lenses may not be the most masculine in color, but they are very effective.  They do make the world appear boring/monochrome blue-grey when you take them off which is slightly concerning...

My personal preference is to the maui jim ka'anapali they are an extremely light weight wire frame. The only problem I have found with these glasses is that they are so light that I have lost two pair to the Pacific because I forgot I was wearing them... Great durability, polarized lenses, weightless

I have Maui Jim Banyans.  Fantastic but friggin expensive they are!!

I have Oakley Half Jacket with G30 lenses. After using every brand with every lens combination imaginable, I love these! Prior, I relied on a pair of Costas with green lenses. They were great also. But a bit on the heavy side. I got an email from Oakley last Thursday and they have the new Pizm lenses in a golf variety and can get the replacements for my Half Jackets for $80. From the pictures I've seen they have a better effect than the G30, so I will be ordering a set of lenses in TVs next couple weeks. I will update at that time.

I can't wear contacts anymore. That leaves Oakleys or any of the sporty golf ones out. So I wear Ray-Bans - Titanium Aviators just because Aviators are bad ass. Non-polarized, because polarized hurts at reading the grain of the greens. Single vision because progressive lenses really distort putting lines. I need them because I don't know if the RoG would allow for sonar - that would give me all the undulations of the green and determine the exact location of the hole. I'm blind as a bat without glasses.

I might have to look into getting the G30 lenses for my Oakley's. I hope they make them for  my model.

I have the ones before that (or maybe they're the G30, but they're not the Prizm ones). My kid has those, though, and they look good…

I rarely ever wear sunglasses, but only because I'm very bad about losing and damaging them. That being the case, paying these amounts for sunglasses will probably not happen for me. Besides all that, I absolutely hate the reverse racoon look wearing sunglasses all the time give me. I did construction for a few years which required me to wear safety glasses all the time and it drove me nuts to see that goofy tan line. I've even stopped wearing ball caps a majority of the time for the same reason.

I have Maui Jim's that I like a lot ... never wore sunglass until last year when the eye doc said I had "light eyes" and if I did not wear sunglass then my cataracts would develop at a faster rate The Maui Jim's are the only ones I found I can wear while golfing ... in fact, I hate playing without them now. (admittedly have not tried many of the ones mentioned here).

Oakleys are the only sunglasses I buy/wear, haven't owned any other brand in 20+ years.  They're expensive as hell, but they're great quality, very comfortable and have very good optics.  I haven't tried the G30 lenses yet though, going to have to give them a shot.

I never liked wearing sunglasses golfing - felt it messed with my depth perception, but I have Prizms in my Holbrooks now, and have no issues wearing them golfing. Amazing lenses

I played golf the entire decade of the 1990s wearing Ray Ban Aviators..........LOL  This was the era before sunglasses evolved.

I had 2 pair...

Pair 1:     Black frames and lenses.........my favorites!   With wrap around the ear arms..............they had a plastic cover over the wrap around the ear portion of the frame for comfort. I could be sweating my AZZZZ off and they'd never slip from my nose and they were always comfortable!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I owned these for more than a decade....at some point, I lost them.   I apparently didn't love them too much, because they were replaced by something completely different!!!

Pair2: Gold frames....classic aviator lenses.......these had the same wrap around the ear arms, but with no plastic cover.  These were definitely less comfortable!!  When I lost my black pair,  I put the gold pair of Aviators away.  I'm pretty sure I still have them, but I don't know where!!  Surely, I never threw them away!

todays wrap-around lenses don't compare to the old stuff not properly designed for golf.   IE....Oakley and several others make quality wrap around lenses 1000 times better for this purpose.  If you see a golfer wearing Ray Ban Aviators on the golf course in this modern era...............they're clueless!!.......I might want to call them out as a non-golfer for wearing those sunglasses!!!

If your looking for a great inexpensive pair, try the Tifosi Veloce Interchangeable Sunglasses. I bought a pair from Rock bottom for $41.00 with free shipping. I use these more than my Oakley Radar Locks. And they were far less money.

Wear the sunglass safety glasses from work, yep I'm cheap but they wrap around nicely and I have about a dozen at home.

I used to be an Oakley wearer but, with rapidly changing sun conditions, I found myself messing with the sunglasses too much.  I tried a pair of the Callaway Transitions and have found them to be the best sunglasses for golf, for me.

    • @boogielicious and I are definitely in for the Stay & Play and will need the extra night's stay on Friday. I don't know what the plans are for our group on Friday but even if we don't make it for dinner with the rest of the Friday arrivals, I'll be more than happy to meet up somewhere for a beer or something.
    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
    • Wish I could have spent 5 minutes in the middle of the morning round to hit some balls at the range. Just did much more of right side through with keeping the shoulders feeling level (not dipping), and I was flushing them. Lol. Maybe too much focus on hands stuff while playing.
    • Last year I made an excel that can easily measure with my own SG data the average score for each club of the tee. Even the difference in score if you aim more left or right with the same club. I like it because it can be tweaked to account for different kind of rough, trees, hazards, greens etc.     As an example, On Par 5's that you have fescue on both sides were you can count them as a water hazard (penalty or punch out sideways), unless 3 wood or hybrid lands in a wider area between the fescue you should always hit driver. With a shorter club you are going to hit a couple less balls in the fescue than driver but you are not going to offset the fact that 100% of the shots are going to be played 30 or more yards longer. Here is a 560 par 5. Driver distance 280 yards total, 3 wood 250, hybrid 220. Distance between fescue is 30 yards (pretty tight). Dispersion for Driver is 62 yards. 56 for 3 wood and 49 for hybrid. Aiming of course at the middle of the fairway (20 yards wide) with driver you are going to hit 34% of balls on the fescue (17% left/17% right). 48% to the fairway and the rest to the rough.  The average score is going to be around 5.14. Looking at the result with 3 wood and hybrid you are going to hit less balls in the fescue but because of having longer 2nd shots you are going to score slightly worst. 5.17 and 5.25 respectively.    Things changes when the fescue is taller and you are probably going to loose the ball so changing the penalty of hitting there playing a 3 wood or hybrid gives a better score in the hole.  Off course 30 yards between penalty hazards is way to small. You normally have 60 or more, in that cases the score is going to be more close to 5 and been the Driver the weapon of choice.  The point is to see that no matter how tight the hole is, depending on the hole sometimes Driver is the play and sometimes 6 irons is the play. Is easy to see that on easy holes, but holes like this:  you need to crunch the numbers to find the best strategy.
