My $100 investment into getting the clicgear has saved me a lot of money over the past few years.  Probably 250 rounds played, walked maybe 150 of them, so 150 X $15 (on average) = $2,250.  That's a good piece of coin, at least for me.

I don't even see how carrying vs pushing could be an argument.  Both are 10 times better than riding.  Besides that, it's all about preference.  I would never consider carrying, bc of my back issues (I am 29 years old, tall, always had lower back issues).  I mostly see a lot of people that played since very early age carrying, since you are pretty much forced to carry in high school (from what I've heard/seen).

Who says I need to burn calories? Haven't you seen my avatar? I do it for the extra weight while walking, similar to wearing a weight vest or ankle weights.

Nope. I have avatars and signatures turned off. Adding extra weight with a weighted vest (or anything strapped to your core, like a golf bag) does very little, cardiovascularly or for muscle gain. Adding weight to your extremities, your wrists or ankles, would do more.

Not looking for muscle gain really, I know carrying a golf bag wouldn't do much for that unless I was carrying 2x the clubs. It does do something for muscle endurance, which I'm more interested in.

I don't think Michelle literally meant that. I think she was prompted for a reply and that was the cleverest thing she could come up while expressing her support for Stanford's golf team. I love her but she is an airhead.

She has a degree from Stanford. I doubt she's an airhead.

I bought a push cart 2 years ago and used it for about 1/2 of a golf season. I then went back to carrying. The push cart didn't seem to make me feel less strained or give me more energy. Plus, I didn't like having to push the cart around the greens (as opposed to just walking through the greens while carrying). I have the push cart stored away. When carrying becomes a burden, I'll definitely get the cart back out...

OK, so that probably explains why you haven't bothered to change that Justin Beiber avatar Erik gave you awhile back.  I've been wondering about that.

Nah, they give those things out like candy.  Anybody can get a degree from Stanford. ;-)

C'mon Ron, book smart and street smart are two different things. She is a pretty dingy at times.

That's just the California coming out - remember Valley Girls?

I don't remember where I heard this recently but it's not my own ... "'Street smart' is just a phrase dumb people use to make them feel better about themselves." :-P

Umm, like, for sure!

I used a push cart for about 4 months back in the late 90's, didn't help my bad back much at all. In fact having to either push, or pull one up a slight hill killed my back. I found it easier on my to carry, so I bought a Ping Hoofer, I adjusted so the bag was in the small of my back, which kind of helper to support my back, and made it much easier pain wise to play 18. Pushing, or pulling is not good for my back. Just my 3 cents.... :-D

Europeans, pushcarts/trolleys don't have the negative stigma that there exists here in the US, am I correct?

I haven't heard anything about it. Stigma in general for that matter. I haven't been to the very finest courses here, but I've played a few over the years. My general impression is that people are out playing golf and having fun, not complaining about what everyone else is doing.

Nevermind, don't worry about it. ;-)

Out on the course yesterday, it was probably 90% guys who were over the age of 60 and they were all using push carts (for good reason). I was one of the only people out there who were walking and carrying their bags, and I felt good about it. It feels like I am getting more out of the experience, and at the same time I feel like I am the player and the caddy.
