Blading chips and thinning irons

Had my best round ever yesterday shooting 81 with 8 pars and 10 bogeys But kept blading my chips and thinning my irons??? I play chips almost leaning solely on my left foot to avoid hanging back, No idea on my irons, i started puring them taking nice divots but as the round went on they got thinner and thinner with less and less divot Completely bemused.....

Weight forward at impact is the key to both.  You probably started shifting your weight better as your round progressed.  For chipping, this is key too.

Lol other way round, it got worse as i progressed!! One thought i had is not releasing the club enough, a few irons i hit went high and faded (i usually draw my irons) so wondered if i was holding the face open a presenting the leading edge to much? Usually is my problem

Without seeing the swing, I'm guessing you are arm swinging. Having a good round and you try to ai shots.

Often is a result of lifting your head or not seeing the club hit the ball.

I say thinning is result of the fear of "chunking", or chilli-dipping, you irons, causing you to "chicken-wing".

Or you couldl be leaning away from the ball, instead of shifting forward...

Either way, I think it stems from the fear of the dreaded CHILLI-DIP. Although I think chilli-dipping is better than shanking it because at least it goes straight....usually.

Two things that you mentioned, high and right fade means you are attacking steep and standing up thru contact, rather than swinging around your body... steep means you have too much arm swinging, not enough shoulder turn.

Shoulder turn on chips vs. swinging with arms will eliminate the thin chip. And keep your weight distributed to your left side.

This happens to me too. As the round goes on, I get tired/lazy and stop turning/shifting my weight forward as well; i.e., I start to swing more with my arms (force of habit I guess). The trick for me, I think, will be strengthening my back and core so I can have a bit more stamina on the course.
