I want to be put off by this, but it is kind of intriguing, bagel pork bun hybrid. They keep throwing spaghetti at the wall, something's gonna stick beyond fad status.

Doh! Missed a chance to buy these. Put off by the price, looked up what they were a week later, now I want. Maybe Californians are used to seeing these, probably rare in the East Coast? Apparently they are like large Concord grapes but sweeter. Next time will do a lookup on premise. The translation is Kyoho grapes (巨峰葡萄), giant mountain grapes.

$13 USD for grapes? For that price, they better be fermented and bottled!

I get your point. But it's a one off thing, you don't buy it all the time.

Made Chicken and Dumplings for the first time. I would say that the dumpling is a step above the noodle.

Man, @NatalieB had some incredible stadium food last night when we, on a whim, went to the Pens game. It was Italian meatballs over tater tots with liquid cheese and shredded bacon on top.

So bad for you, and yet so good… (I only got a few tater tots at the end).

What a coincidence, I'm making carbonara for some friends tomorrow night.  Interesting to float a yolk on top, though, I love the look.

Carbonara is great. I make it at least once a month because the kids love it. They call it bacon spaghetti.

I love carbonara, though my all-time favorite pasta dish is its eggless, tomato-packed cousin, all'amatriciana.

One of my favorite pasta dishes. Not the eggless kind that some restaurants try to pass as Carbonara.

Hmm. I have never heard of this dish, but I googled it and it sounds delicious.

Eggless Carbonara? I didn't realize that was a thing.

After this I actually decided on make some for dinner tonight. One of the easiest aside pasta dishes to make, and tastes great. It’s a quick sauce you can make with canned tomatoes, but the bacon (traditionally would be guanciale or pancetta but hey, you can get bacon anywhere and the smokiness actually adds a nice flavor) and cheese add a great richness. Traditionally it’s made with bucatini (my grocery store actually has it now) but spagetti works fine.

Do you have a favorite recipe? Another of my faves is shrimp fra diavolo, spicy garlicky tomato sauce.
