Pause the top video at impact, and work instead on getting your arms down faster, so you aren't flipping even with a back ball position.

This was a little half-swing drill I was doing to try to work on that. Do you think this looks good for not flipping? If so, I can keep working on this drill and get it to translate into my full swing.

I think you posted the wrong video. Where's the half swing video?

When you find it ;-), pause it at impact and you tell me…

Ha! Point taken. I'm good at being specific, but not good at being short and bad at being slow.

The one question I have is about the speed up of the arms. I've tried to work on that in the past, and I really struggled finding a good feel for it. Are there other ways of thinking about it or attacking that problem that might help? For me, maybe slowing down my body a bit? Staying behind the ball with my head? I have no idea if those would help. Just trying to get other ways of thinking about it.

I'd say that's only going to hurt your ability to lessen the flip. Here's what I'd recommend.

- Make sure the heel pad is on top of the grip
- Let the left arm hang naturally, don't worry about having the inside part of the elbow pointing out
- Rope drill. Take a 3-4ft piece of rope (I use 38") and hold one end like a golf club. Take your backswing and allow the rope to come into contact with your upper back. On your downswing, keep the rope on your back/shoulder, rotate your trunk and create the "whoosh" well in front of the ball.

Struggling with this. Just can't find a good feel for it. I need to refocus on mirror work to see if I can find something.

Actually looks pretty good IMO, are you still on Evolvr?

Have you seen my grip thread? Your left hand looks a little weak. Getting it a little stronger (neutral) can help make impact a little cleaner/more stable.

Well, that's good to hear. I am on Evolvr and I submitted this video as a check in/asking for help to find a better feel. If it's turns out this is okay, then great!

I have seen the grip thread, but I haven't read through it very carefully. I'll read it and experiment with making my left hand a little stronger.

Thanks, @mvmac! I'll give it a shot. And I can trust your advice, too! Unlike @iacas, where I'm wondering in the back of my head if he's trying to lead me down the wrong path before the Newport Cup :-D.

I'll be glad to help too, if you're interested in some truly bad advice.

Yeah, and I'd wait on any grip adjustments until about October 19.  Then I recommend fiddling all through the rounds, never use the same grip for two swings in a row.  :-P

I would just make sure it's more in the fingers, especially the last three fingers of the left hand. Like if you were to hammer a nail with the left hand.

Two can play at that game! Maybe I'll post something around October 1 in your swing thread about the magic secret you need to fix your golf swing. Spoiler alert - it might involve you playing lefty.

That's an idea, maybe we should ALL switch sides of the ball for the day 3 single matches.

I read through the first post and watched the video, and it does seem like I'm little too palmy in my left hand grip. I will work on that. Thanks!

Preston got back to me and noticed something. I had actually submitted a half-ish swing video where my impact position looks good, along with my full swing. He noticed my hips are sliding too much forward in my full swing, whereas I'm rotating them more in my half-ish swing. So that's something that will help with this, too.

I did strengthen my grip, and I think that helped clean it up a little bit, too. It was hard to tell on video last night because I was at lighted range that was not well light, but I thought I saw some progress. I hit some "holy crap" shots that were really, really good with the grip, too. A little progress, it seems...

Good, agree with that.

Making some progress with key 3. Looks better to me, although not 100% there:

However, I have this problem:

Getting really steep in transition there, going from steep to steeper. Explains the snap hooks I've been hitting too much of. Going to work on shallowing out the club in transition more, so I can actually swing in to out. Also looks like my club face is pretty closed at impact, which doesn't help.
