July 23rd, if you commit to playing nine holes (I suppose you could play nine holes twice? :D), you can get a ball marker "set."

Anyway, I often play only nine when I'm out with the kiddo. July 23rd is this upcoming Wednesday.

Actually playing on Wed, which is unusual for me. We'll play nine twice. I'd almost rather not play golf than just play 9 though. I doubt that I've intentionally set out to only play nine holes more than 2 or 3 times in the last 35 years, except like you, when taking my daughter out when she was younger. Absolutely support the initiative though. If it somehow gets more people out playing golf, it's a good thing!

A lot of courses don't offer 9 hole rates which stops golfers from going out to late.  Is the USGA mandating clubs offer reduced rates as Im not really aware of the program

I can't remember the last time I saw a course that didn't have a nine-hole rate.

Your definition of "a lot" must be different than mine. :-)

Your definition of "a lot" must be different than mine.

None in Texas that I can remember..I have friends in Lebanon near u that found that crazy as well, guess it's just a region thing

Every course in my area offers 9. I go out with the intention of playing 9 almost every time. Twilight golf is the way to go if your cheap ;-) and it works out nice with the work schedule :-D I will be playing on July 23!!

Ricky Fowler has a pretty cool ad running now with American Express and the USGA about playing 9. He's on Golf Channel now talking about how he grew up playing 9 mostly. Time to play is the #1 reason people didn't play more often, according to USGA- more than cost. Personally, I wish the rates for 9 were half that of playing 18. I'd probably not feel like I was getting a worse deal. I usually opt for 18, but I will consider doing 9 more often definitely.

I play 9 most of the time. In fact I can't recall if I've played 18 this season. It just takes too long. Often our whole family will go out and play (me, wife, son and daughter). The county courses here have a great family rate. 10 bucks per person, although usually at twilight hours. Four of us playing 9 for 40 bucks including cart is a heck of a deal. I think my son and I will go play 9 today after work.

I play mostly after work so it is 9 most of the time. I see really good 9 deals on GolfNow. As low as $8 walking. But I have learned courses hate GolfNow Hot Deals.

That is strange. I'd think Texas would offer 9 hole rounds, especially when you can only get 9 holes in the evenings. I know some courses wont offer 9 hole rounds before noon or 1pm on weekends, but I have never seen an outright ban of 9 hole rounds before.

I'll be out playing 9 holes today, weather permitting.

If you have a GHIN account, does that mean you have a USGA account?

I'm not going to lie, I'd do this but I really don't see the benefit of spending $10 to become a member of the USGA because I don't see the upside for me.

I was out but just for 5 holes before the wind blew me off the course. Seemed busy for that time of day so I think people made an effort . We were 5:42 and oncewe got to the high point on 4 there were a couple groups behind.

I got my ball markers! Sweet. :) My kiddo ( @NatalieB ) should get some use out of them on her visor ball marker magnetic clip thing-a-ma-jig.

      Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things?       Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.

      Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
