Where in SoCal did you get fit?

Anybody else in this area go through a fitting?

Yeah, I got fitted up in Beverly Hills by a guy named Brent Mann.  He was good, I love my putter.  Here is his website: http://www.brentmanngolf.com/

A lot of guys on here were fitted down in San Diego (at the golf academy at Riverwalk) in the last couple of years, but that fitter is no longer with Edel.  I learned this because I tried to go to them first, based on the recommendations, but found out they stopped working with Edel.

It looks like Edel has a new location in San Diego now, though, at a Golf Galaxy.  Don't know anything about them though.

Erik--

The table on the Edel website is confusing.  It makes it look as if you do wedge fittings, but not putters?

I've sent them an email. Thanks.

I'm good with that but I'm not wait a year for a edel. I think I'll talk to Jared after the holidays to see if we can get it done.

http://edelgolf.com/find-a-fitter

The enclosed link indicates that there are only two fitters in the greater LA area (Brent Mann & Matt Mora), and neither of them offer putter fittings. Pretty unbelievable that they would have a void in that area. Is this accurate? Am I stuck traveling to Bakersfield or San Diego if I want to buy an Edel Putter?

@Big C , You should call Brent, because that's where I got my putter just about a year ago.  He's got a little studio in the basement of an office building in Beverly Hills.

Brent's website appears to be down, and I couldn't locate him.  He used to be at the Players Club in Santa Monica, but he no longer appears on their website either.  Golfingdad: Do you have a phone number for him?

Erik--do you guys ever do Edel putter fittings in California?

No. It's tough to take the cart across the country. Especially since it looks like a gun case.

You're right, I couldn't find him online either.

I would just call Players Club and ask them about Brent and/or ask them if they do Edel putter fittings.  Then, if that doesn't work out, call that other guy on the list from LA - Matt Mora.  (Although, @Big C says that he doesn't do putter fittings and his website doesn't list Edel as a brand, so I wouldn't hold out hope.)  If that fails, try the Golf Galaxy in San Diego, and then if that still fails, say "eff it," and book a flight to Erie. :-P

That's what I would do.

No matter who you pick, make sure you read the OP of THIS thread before you go.  (unless it's Erik, since he, you know, wrote it)

Ummmm..... You do realize that thread you just linked is the exact same thread we are currently posting in, right???? :-P

I left Brent a voicemail about an hour ago. The phone number listed on the Edel site still appears to be active, so I'll let you know if he responds.

    • I’ve recently started KBs too and really enjoy it. I have one day of armour building complex and one day of a mobility routine. Adding in a speed training day too.    which routines do you do @Elmer
    • Again, I’m not an expert so take it with a grain of salt My question is whether laying back even further becomes too conservative and that strategy is suboptimal as a result? Essentially what’s the cost of guaranteed longer second shot vs the x% risk for hitting the bunker? I think the optimal way to answer the question is looking at strokes gained, in consideration of the hazards and penalties, and picking the strategy that maximizes SG off the tee. I’ve seen some apps that do this but I’m not sure how accurate they are.   And again, asking all this so I can learn what I should be doing in these situations rather than questioning your approach Bill. I would give an example of the course I’m joining this year where I plan to aim at the bunker, but I don’t want to take over your swing thread any further!
    • What @DeadMan said. From the satellite it looks like there's tall grass to the right, long of the fairway post-dog-leg. But left it just looks like regular rough all the way to the neighboring tee boxes. If that's true I'm aiming left edge of the green and bombs away every time, hoping for a 30-70 yard up and down opportunity.
    • What's the case against blasting a driver at the green? I'm guessing it puts the penalty area/fescue too much into play, but if that's just standard rough around the green, there would be a good case for it. If it's not driver, then I agree with your approach. The one thing I would add is to shade your aim towards the bunkers vs. center of the fairway. Hitting out of a bunker is (marginally) better than a penalty drop.
    • Yes, if you are gonna layup, then layup. No need to nickle and dime a few extra yards and bring bunker back into play.
