How can anyone not like Harrington? Oh, you're english :-D

Actually, I'm more Scot than Sassenach. And in general, I'm pro-Irish, though for some reason I can't stand McIlroy, either. But Harrington has always seemed unappealingly vacuous to me, a couple of slices short of a full loaf. EDIT. Fantastic up and down for Westwood, maybe he isn't past it after all...

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

I'm only kidding bud....his beaver face after each shot is a little odd.

oh, did Tiger make the putt?  My feed cut out.  Looked like a pull drive, 2nd to the trap, sand shot short and a long putt left to save.....

the longer this goes, it seems like a lot more petty/personal comments about the players......odd thread

Actually, I'm more Scot than Sassenach.

I'm sure if you dig into the origins of the word Sassenach you'll find it roughly translates into lowlander and was used to differentiate anyone from south of the old Highland line. The line was based on Stirling, so although many of them are unaware of it, Glaswegians are sassenachs, as indeed would be a majority of the Scottish population. Just in case any of you go to Gleneagles next month though (don't suggest to any Scots that they might be sassenachs, it really won't go down very well)

What's funny is it doesn't feel like Rory's playing all that great today....probably the worst he'll play all week.....yet he's still -3 for the round, tied for the best of the day. No one's gone better than 3-under today. Shows you how the wet fairways and grounds are impacting the course. The 2nd and 6th holes are par-5s playing as par-4s today.

So much for that Friday jinx that was all people could talk about prior to the Open Championship win. Don't think Rory knows what day it is- give him a club and he just sees fairways n greens.

Funnily enough, I know that. Argyll was the centre of the first Scots kingdom, I believe, and that's my lineage... Meanwhile, Westwood birdies the third. He looks like a man who knows how to putt. Must be an impostor..

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Sassenach and the Welsh word 'Sais' (Englishman) both come from the latin Saxones, for Saxons.

They just got way carried away arguing with each other about statistics. At one point, Brandel bet Frank everything he owns that he was wrong about Tiger swing speed last year. Lerner and Notah were noticeably uncomfortable. they just kept going on and on.

Here's an article and clip of it:

Article showing Brandel is talking out his ass about Tiger's launch angles being a bad thing

Also - Chamblee mentioned forward shaft lean sends the ball left - can someone explain how?

The whole part with him using the pen is hilarious, IMO.

The TNT feed is basically marquee group coverage of Tiger, Phil, and Paddy. Not that I'm complaining.

    • Here's the bet. Assuming the pursuit of a Tour card holds, who wins their first Tour event? Charlie, or this Russell kid? Bet is off if Miles Russell signs with LIV.
    • It seems like too much work for me. I'm actually surprised at myself for spending as much time on this as I already have. Shot Scope tells me my shots to finish with a 7i is 0.1 better than with my 50 or 55 so I'm just going to go with it. Actually, I tend to be the complete opposite. I've never faced a shot I'm convinced I can't hit. It leads to great heroics and complete flops. Conservative for me might just be someone else's normal.
    • Tell me you've not seen Bill play without telling me you've not seen Bill play? 😄 Just teasing @billchao. 😄
    • And like Matt said, and I have hinted at… it's ONE ROUND. Because you have to get hot. Better players than him failed to get through. And… Peaked too soon, perhaps. He could also get injured, get surpassed, lose interest or lose his game… Again, if I trusted y'all to uphold the bet, and if the bet wasn't basically a 15-year proposition… I'd bet y'all. The odds are against him, and heavily so. So… he didn't qualify, and he's playing on a sponsor's exemption. Jordan Spieth was 16 years old when he tied for 16th in a PGA Tour event… and I realize that mentioning Jordan Spieth (who has obviously had a lot of success) seems to argue against my point, but Spieth is the exception and he did better at only a year older than this fella. The odds are strongly against him.
    • He shot -5 with a bogey on the last hole. Those Monday Q events are seriously tough to get through. Lots of very very good players play in those, including normally a fair few tour players who've lost their cards, including past winners. It is a small sample size, but he also just broke one of Tiger's records (youngest ever to be ranked one in AJGA if memory serves). He's the best 15 year old in the world at the moment. He's also pretty small and skinny - if he grows and fills out a bit and gets stronger, he could be a serious force to be reckoned with. He may of course also go off the boil and struggle or his swing may not last his growth or something, so it's not like he's odds on to make it or anything like that. I think it will be interesting to see how he progresses and if (big if granted) he progresses well, then he will be quite the prospect.
