"Phil on the 10th...where he started the tournament on Thursday."

Gosh thanks for that riveting insight, Nantz.

The perfect ending to a major is going to be spoiled because they couldn't just check the weather forecast and move tee times forward. They should have taken note from The Open

Absolutely correct. Ruins it.

He still has 9 holes to play :-) I wouldn't say everyone loves Phil, there are a few guys on here that can't stand him. I root for him, I think he's fun to watch and part of it is probably a California thing but I can see how some think he comes off douchey.

Any names? I'd like to send them a cupcake..:-D..I dunno if it's a location thing. I've lived out here all my life and i'd rather root for a guy in Finland :-)

2:20 to play the front nine. These guys are going to be flirting with daylight. Not sure the last group's gonna make it. May not matter anyways for them. Rory's one bogey away from being left out of the party.

McIlroy missing a green with a 9 iron. He's done

Announcers said he played that shot that way intentionally; Rory expected it to pop out of the rough.

Henrik Stenson is ready to win a major. Might not be the most popular guy, but he is the best golfer out there without a major championship.

Ilonen is tied for fourth with McIroy, but as far as the TV coverage is concerned he may as well have stayed at home.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

There's something about him that makes me bristle a bit, but by the same token he's rarely done much that I can say I find obnoxious. I don't dislike, but neither do i like him, I just find a bit phoney and a little bit too manufactured.

Having said that, I did back at 10/1 this morning figuring that the McIlroy group would underperform, and that the winner would likely come from Mickelson and Fwlers pairing roared home by a local crowd. Right now though, i think Rickey's got the better game

Interestingly, and it might be a portent, but McGinlay has remarked how much difference a supportive crowd is making to Rickey and Phil once you can engage them .... urm ... I wonder if a few mischievous press releases and supportive stories are being lined up to stir the savage highlanders at Gleneagles (OK Gleneagles isn't really in the heart of the Highlands)

Would be a great story if Stenson wins with a 62....nobody's ever gone below a 63 in any major championship. An amazing stat that's stood throughout history.

No. No possible way this tournament finishes today.

He's a good golfer, but he's not the best without one. Sergio and Lee would take that IMO.

They were at one time. I'm talking about overall talent right now. Sergio might be the only one I'd argue over him.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
