I was thinking of buying either GG Live or a range finder. Sounds like I should hold off on GG for now? Or is it just the Pro version that is having all the issues?

I used GG Live for about a year without a problem. Last time I used it (about 2 months ago), it was unable to find my home course and didn't record any stats.  I've since switched to Arccos and haven't looked back.

Yeah that's the download that's no longer working when I try to run the install. Theres nothing special about the new comp, just running the most recent versions of software. Their contact support page had broken links when you try to select what device you need support for.

It downloaded the Mac installer for me. I can't know if it works for Windows or whatever.

Their support page is broken because desk.com is down.

How do you guys deal with your stroke and distance penalties? When I hit a drive off the planet, I tag again and hit my second shot. When I edit my round, I have 2 tee shots. One is set to zero distance with a +1 penalty attached to it, and the other is my second drive. Pretty sure that zero distance shot is messing up my stats. Wondering if I should just have my second drive only with a +2 penalty attached to it...

When you upload the round to your computer, there is an option to add a penalty (+1 or +2).

I do the same thing as you with a zero distance or distance from the shot to the drop for my first shot.  But, Game Golf does have an algorithm that throws out outliers when calculating the "typical" distance for each club.

Another idea i've considered, probably because i read it here somewhere, is to create a "penalty" club.  So after the round, just switch the club to this penalty club, and all the bad distances and penalties will be assigned to that club.  I'm curious if anyone actually does that.

That is something I've not heard.   A different way of thinking.   👍

So I temporarily edited my last round. I deleted all of the zero distance shots (there were a lot ha...) and added a +2 penalty to the only tee shot. The club performance stats didn't change. It did change some stats though. The "Off the Tee" insight was showing an increase in percentage of fairways hit, but the average distance was now correct. Before, the average distance was accounting for the zero distance shots. Also, strokes gained moved some points from the off the tee category to the approach category. Not sure what happened there. I think I'm going to stick with the zero distance shot and the +1 penalty for the stroke and distance penalties. Thanks guys.

Greetings fellow golfers...

I am unable to find or locate a manual for my Game Golf Live. I have looking on line without success.

I recall somewhere in the manual, telling me that I should/could turn off the WiFi while playing. Is this correct?

My latest round somehow has holes 1-9 recorded starting as the 19th hole (I know I hit it poorly, but I was sober).  Then holes 10-18 in the right spot.  Do I sign it like this?

If it matters, it's at a complex with 27 holes, but we played 18.

If you are using Game Golf Live, you need to do a factory reset on the GPS that clips onto your belt. Turn it on and then press and hold the rest button, (inside the belt clip) for 5 or 10 seconds.

This occured to me, none of the holes lined up, some were on top of each other. I did the reset, and looked at the course again and it was all fine.

Thanks!  I'll do this next time I get back to that particular course.

WIFI isn't mentioned in the manual.   It does reference using Bluetooth if you are using the phone application.   I choose to only turn on the device before play, use it during play, turn it off after play and make adjustments on my PC when I get home.    I don't use my phone.

I don’t recall reading it, but I usually turned off WiFi when playing. I figured it saved on battery. I also put my iPhone on low power mode.  (I used to use game golf live. Stopped about 9 months ago.)

I have Game Golf Live, and have been thinking of changing over to Accros.

I would like to maintain my GG data.

Does anyone know how to convert the data to an Excel spreadsheet?

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
