Of course there is also the security issue.  I was just reading an article on wired about how a guy hacked into his apple, google, twitter, and amazon accounts, and remote wiped iphone, ipad, and macbook.  Basically, once he got into amazon he could see the last 4 digits of the guy's credit card, which was pretty much all he needed for Apple support to let him in.  From the google and twitter password resets were filtered through the apple email, which the hackers controlled.  Scary stuff.  But at the end of the day, as with all these security breaches, if you're using credit cards you'll usually end up fine.  Its just a PITA.  And if someone gets into those accounts, they can probably get all your bank info regardless of whether you use Apple Pay.

I remember reading that when it came out. From what I remember, Apple changed their policy on giving access just with the last 4 credit card digits after that article. Trying hard here not to blame the victim, but back up your stuff , people! That was his main problem - all those family pictures he lost.

yeah.  the author says the same thing.  But these particular hackers weren't really trying to steal anything, so they didn't go after his bank accounts.  I'm not sure how hard or easy that is to do once you have access to all those other accounts, but back ups would not have helped.

Like I said though, if you're using credit cards with Apple Pay, you'll probably end up just fine.  The cc companies will cancel any fraudulent charges.

Backups would have saved all of the family photos, etc. that he lost.

The "hackers" in that case socially engineered it, too. Companies are getting smarter about that… which also creates real problems for genuine people to prove they are who they are. Security is always a double-edged sword. You want it to be easy enough that people use it (for example Time Machine made it easier for people to do backups, CrashPlan and others make it easier to do online backups, etc.), but still secure.

Mmm...pop tarts. I'm on the fence with this one. I like my iPhone 5. I just got my camera mount stick thingy from that company I can't remember. Having said that, I'll check out the preorder in the morning, hum and haw over doing it, and then forget about it by lunch.

It's completely fine by me if they want to keep missing the point. :)

Exactly.

As a long time Apple user I was forced to work on a Windows 8 laptop the other day. One of my most unpleasant experiences in ages.

My partner has a Galaxy 3 - yep, great camera, large size, but compared to my iphone? No thanks.

It's about the user experience.

I remember when the ipad was introduced. The Apple "haters" said things like "But it's just a big ipod touch".

Not to Samsung - it's not just about size or features.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

When I first learned about the iPhone 6 back in June i was pretty pumped. My 2 year old iPhone 4 was beginning to get annoying and when you start thinking about the phone you realize just how small yours is. I plan on getting one of them in 3 weeks. And I have to say I was very impressed with the new ios8 update. It's extremely user friendly for a small update. Especially the imessage app.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
