Right hand swing Developed tendinosis with tenderness in the outer part of the lower Achilles' tendon and outer part of the insertion of my right foot Tender to touch when walking a while, particularly uphill Every time I stopped playing golf for a couple of weeks it would get better but as soon as I played golf it came back in the same place. I assumed it was related to walking on the course or the greens even if I was riding a cart. Today after going to the range I think I figured out what may be causing it. When I swing I push off, lift and roll in the right foot pretty aggressively. (Frequently a cause for hitting left) and I tend to do it early in the forward swing.. It is then worsened if I am walking 9 or 18 holes when I climb a hill. I wonder if this has happened to others. Will an Achilles' tendon brace help for the current symptoms to be able to continue playing? What type? Any hints, tricks or suggestions to keep the heel down until the end of the swing? Thanks for any help. It has been going on for several months,

No help as far as preventing that kind of injury. Sounds like some sort of brace or even an Ace bandage. But for the pain the CT Cream would probably help the long term pain. For short term pain, Eucalyptus works on most pains so you can continue playing. Spray on every half hours or so.

I have had this issue. Basically it is an over use injury. I fixed the problem by using Kenesio tape. I would watch a video on youtube about KT Tape on Youtube. I used it for several weeks and have had no issues since.

I'm currently recovering from shoulder injuries, and before that a fractured finger. At some point, I remember having this injury as well. The issue I had was that my lead foot was not flared out a little, and I would lift up on it before impact. The flaring out the foot helps relieve the stress on the ankle. The other problem was a timing issue. If you let your body move in such a way that the weight goes more naturally to your lead foot, this helps with the Achilles tendon injury you described. This was a key 2 issue for me.
