Wet. Stormed almost all day yesterday. It was all carry out there for the most part (ball mark from the tee shot on 16 was actually 3' in front of the ball). Turf conditions played a factor and I hit more fat shots than I typically do.

Driving totally sucked. Hit a couple of good shots, but I hit a bunch of really off-line shots. Made up for a lot of it with my iron play and still hit 6 GIR with 2 coming from an adjacent fairway. It very nearly could have even been as high as 8 GIR: I hit a massive push-slice near the 13th green from 15 that I abandoned and holed out in 4 strokes after I re-teed, and clipped the top of the tree I hate the most on the course on the approach on 16.

I'm adjusting (abeit slowly) to the fact that my new blades are about half a club shorter than my old clubs, but I feel like I control them much better distance-wise (haven't hit any trampoline shots with them - can't) and line-wise they seem better. Most important of all is the overwhelming sense of satisfaction that I get when I hit a good shot, knowing that I did that :-)

Short game was pretty decent save for a couple of really bad shots. I didn't hit any really good shots to make up for it, though. Starting to get back my feel for not being too wristy on pitch shots which is helping contact tremendously. Didn't make anything longer than a 4-footer today which didn't help matters, but otherwise I think I ok putting.

70 from the white tees at WW (because the old guy I played with wanted to play from there, and I wanted to shoot a lower number, but didn't): http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/2178918. I wasn't sure what lines or clubs to hit from some of the tees.

Oh well.

Great off the tee, distance wedge were a struggle, short pitch shots were pretty good, putting was OK.

71.  Hit a ton of greens and didn't make any putts.  Not at the home course so I struggled a bit on the greens getting the line and pace.  Made some good strokes or it at least felt that way.  Lots of low-stress pars.

Happy how i'm hitting it right now.  If I fix the putter I'll be dangerous.  Playing in a tournament out there on Monday so I'm hoping the practice round will help.

Fairways and Greens.

Very windy today, but the course was in great shape. Somewhere in the middle of the round I completely lost my swing. I'm pretty sure I was ready to call it by the time I got to 16. Frustrating, considering I hit some great shots today. Drove the ball better today than I have in a long time so that's a positive.

This was a single round of 18...I shot a 91 on a par-73 course.  I was +1 overall on the par-5's (3 pars and a bogie), which is crazy good for me.

My struggles with the driver continue.  Only 4 truly solid (230+) drives all day...with 7 drives that were either weak slices or poor contact...and 4 truly awful drives (topped 100 yards, or pulled into a water hazard, etc).  But, it was still one of my better rounds, scoring-wise, in a long time, mostly because my putting and short game were both significantly better than usual.

Played a round with @jamo. I played ok - pretty much as well as I have been all year: kind of a mix of good and bad.

Greens were firmer than I am used to and they were a little shaggy so we had some odd rolls every now and then. Good weather, good company, and a good day of golf.

For whatever reason GAME hasn't been working for me for about two years but finally got it to start working again, here's my round from today.

Played a round with @jamo, @boogielicious, and @nevets88. Great course, great company, great time. Weather was good and the course was in excellent shape.

Tied my all-time low score of 82 and did it on a course I've never played before. I don't know where this round came from, but I'll take it. I definitely hit some great shots today, but more importantly, I hit some great misses that were very playable (got lucky a few times, too, which helped).

Everything just kind of clicked today.

Sunday's round. Almost a bogey free round, birdied all the par 5's. Hit the driver well.

Yesterday's round. First time playing Shadow Creek in Vegas. Hit it 16 greens with a lot of great opportunities and only made one birdie 😭

The bad:

39 putts and a few more from just barely off the green. Still, I was a lot more aggressive on my lag putts which resulted in some tap-ins. I also made some longer 2nd putts when I didn't get close. Unfortunately, only a single 1-putt to offset the 4 3-putts I had.

The good:

Starting lines with my partial 9i and wedges were really on and that's something I've struggled with all year. I could have very easily had 8 or 9 GIR today. My misses were just off the green, a couple by only inches. I really hope I can maintain this throughout the season.

LSW logic:

I stayed aggressive by using driver on all but one par 4. I also used the 5w on most of my 2nd shots on the par 5's instead of playing it safe. This resulted in wedges for approach shots.

Lake View is easily in the best shape it's EVER been in. Phenomenal.

Got off to a slow start. Though I had two putts inside 15 FT for par on the first to holes. Over all happy with my scrambling and putting.

After this mornings 3 1/2 hours of practice.   I decided after resting to go out again.  Hit balls on the range for 30 minutes.  Then played 18 holes from the White Tees, to see the impact of the work I have been doing this week.  Please to write I shot my age!!  A round of 70 for 2 under par!!   And what made it even more satisfying was that I hit 16 GIR, the greens were aerated on Wednesday so they were ROUGH.  But I was able to get up and down twice!! And made a couple birdie putts.

http://www.gamegolf.com/player/JuanTheGolfer/round/2224721

I had to adjust the location of the drive and second shot on hole #14 since they had a temporary green...   which I hit in 2.  Not sure what to do when there are temporary greens.  Guess I need to learn a little more about Game Golf.

What a round today!! Personal best score, most pars ever (9), a birdie, drove the ball well, putted pretty well (did miss a few short ones..). Golf is a funny game...Couldn't touch the ball the last few weeks, and have been shanking like crazy..but kept working and was rewarded with todays round.

SG Tee: -2.23

SG Approach: -7.10

SH Short Game: -4.63 (poor bunker play)

SG Putting: -1.22

    • Even on a perfect center hit I was receiving at most 1.48 smash factor. 10 days ago on the warming up for a round my Driver made a weird sound, I checked the bottom and it was cracked. Don't know for how long it was cracked but at least this time the crack was easy visible. Maybe it was already cracked before but with a more subtle crack?.. don't know. I'm waiting for TaylorMade to approve the warranty and send me a new head. I was using the Stealth Plus, I will take the opportunity and upgrade it to the Qi10 LS paying the difference.  On Sunday with my old Titleist 915 and softer balls I was reaching 1.5, even 1.51 on center hits. Test didn't went well. Only gained 2..3 miles, not worth pursuing. Figured out that with a ball and with a target, my path was way to in to out with this new idea, so in order to move the club in the correct path I needed to slow down to redirect the club on the downswing or aim more to the right, close the face a play a big hook.. not possible. I already play a big draw with Driver, more curvature is unplayable. Yesterday at home, with no ball messed around with a more neutral path, even swinging a little out to in. It felt a lot more in sync with the body. With a big in to out path it feels like my hands are working right, away from the body, when the body is working to rotate to the left. With the path to the left is was easier to apply force thru the hitting zone.  As always tested 10 swings with my current swing (A), and 10 with this little out to in path(B).  The difference was huge, like 12 miles faster with swing (B). I knew something wasn't right. The fact was that the PRGR was aligned more in line with the (B) path so it of course was giving higher speeds. I proceeded to align it with the (A) path and tested again 5 more swings each. Again (B) was faster but only by 5 miles. (Made a tiny experiment moving the PRGR to a more extreme in to out path and the swings register 25/30% slower for both swings, so it wasn't reading properly at that angle) Finally I moved the PRGR in the middle of both paths, and this time (B) won by 9 miles. Off course, this was without a ball and a target so.. I will be hitting the range tomorrow to see the real difference.
