Played in my last amateur tour event of the year on Saturday.

Shot 38-36 = 74. Low gross, T3 net. 8/14 Fw’s, 13/18 GIR and 32 putts. One 3 putt.

Fairways were very soggy from a bunch of rain over night. Greens had been sanded a few days before but rolled okay. Rough was wet and gnarly.

Driving: A-  Hit driver well minus #18

Approach shots: B+  Terrible 9i swing on #4, Bad club selection on #15

Short game: B+  Lucky chip-in on #14 helped this grade

Putting: B-  Speed was decent. Missed a few short ones.

Played here with @boogielicious, @Valleygolfer and his friend Dave who isn't on TST. Tough course. Lots of places to lose the golf ball and I did. Plenty of areas marked as lateral hazards so I didn't get completely destroyed by S&D. The course certainly has a lot of character, though some design elements are a bit quirky.

I knew beforehand that this was a tight course, but I didn't realize how much the angles off the tee really get cut off by trees until I started playing.

Greens were inconsistent. Slow on some holes and not on others; I couldn't get the pace right all day and it really hurt my score today.

So...I've "crossed over" before on some tight courses, but this is the most impressive clusterf--k I've ever seen on Game Golf:

Yea I managed to hit a tree trying to advance the ball on two consecutive holes. There were some other weird things that happened during the round, it made for an interesting day :-P

I played in our last outing yesterday before our Myrtle Beach trip next week. It was at the Walker Course at Clemson. Shot 37-35/ 72. 4  birdies, 2 bogies and 1 double. Best round I have ever shot there. Course was in great shape.

11/18 GIR, 11/14 Fw’s and 28 putts. That is not a typo. Yes 28 putts. Still looking at the hole on almost all putts. That is really starting to pay dividends not looking at the ball. Speed has been very good. Putts 5-10 feet still needs some work.

League night was very strange. I had a few bad shots but most of my problem was just poor putting. A bit frustrating because it was one of the very few times the greens were receptive. That said, even for a night when I felt like I was struggling I only really had 1 really bad hole.

Kinda played the blue tees at WW today. Boring golf. 8 GIR, missed the last one after pulling the tee shot a little bit, did well to get it to a nGIR spot.

This is important.

Played ok today. Driver was great, struggled on my inside 100 yard game. Putting was solid.

Played Northstar today. It's a pretty good layout, but the greens were OK. They were very hard on the front nine, versus soft not he back nine. The grass looked cut short but they were medium speed. The grass was not dense at all, and some areas looked blotchy.

Overall, I hit the ball really well. I didn't putt well at all.

Also played Northstar. Not a lot to say about my game except I was very surprised and pretty happy with my non-iron tee shots. Way more fairways than I usually hit, but without really backing them up with GiRs they were wasted. I also struggled putting, which is a bit unusual for me lately.

Well playing at my easy course sure didnt translate well haha, really exposed my golf game.

Played Dakota Dunes on the weekend, which I would say is the most legit and nicest course I've ever played. Hosted MacKenzie Tour a few years ago, and the MacKenzie stops in Winnipeg are all private so it was nice to play a legit course.

REALLY wasn't used to the green speed, GG said I lost 9 strokes alone to putting. Have also never played a course that beat you so bad for missing the green/fairway.

The thing is, I didnt mind. The course and weather was beautiful.

Driver hurt my good round. Just spraying it. Irons were solid. Short game and distance wedges were much better. Putting was better.

Ugh, that front 9. Almost walked off, glad I didn't. But seriously it was ugly.

First round since getting and reading LSW, and first time using the Game Golf app. Also a new personal best round for myself, shot a 76! I applied shot mapping to the entire course today on my tee shots and approach shots, which resulted in easy up and down chips/pitches when I did miss GIR.

Had 3 birdies which is the most I have ever had. First one was on hole 7 a par 5 where I usually lay up after my drive, but went with 3 wood today instead to advance it as far as possible, ended up getting up and down for birdie. Hole 10 was a 1 foot tap in on a par 5 after another solid 3 wood approach shot, and final birdie was also on a par 5, 17th hole, hit a 3 wood from light rough that rolled onto the front of the green, 2 putted for the birdie.

Those approach shots plus getting on the green on a par 4 with a hybrid from 200+yds really helped my round since I had a couple of very bad drives.

Ugh. Just can't get used to playing for a card. The 8 on the second was so frustrating as I didn't feel I hit that many bad shots! Drive was great, but landed in a divot - got a little steep and pulled the approach into a bunker. Didn't have a shot and it rolled off the green onto a bare lie on a downslope... Same thing happens and I then hit a poor shot, duffing it out of the deep stuff. A decent-ish putt followed, but I shoved the three-footer for triple. Just got shell-shocked after the pitch following the bunker shot.

Actually recovered pretty well. Drove the ball brilliantly, but short game, putting and iron play was pretty much non-existent. Not the worst result, all told.

69, Black (72.7/137) at Lawrence Park today. Just flagged it on six straight holes to start the back nine, and missed two putts of 8' and 10'. That's how you shoot -4 and LOSE strokes gained putting… because the ones I made were from 12', 2', 2', and 2', basically.

I was really proud of my up and down on 18, especially after a little pull into the fairway bunker. I had a horrible lie but right near the green with the green sloping slightly away from me and very little to work with. Had to take a good cut but fly the ball four yards and land it softly. Almost went in.

It's actually one 18-hole round. Hit 13 nGIR with 7 GIR apparently. I didn't realize how well I was hitting the ball because I was scoring like crap. Need to put more time in on short game and putting.

It's apparently really hard to hit balls out of tall grass #whodathunkit

In addition, I hit maybe three fades all day so there goes the theory that I was correcting or controlling my shot shape. I should know better than to post about stuff like that, this game will humble you pretty quickly.
