I've been Playing Golf for: 7 years

My current handicap index or average score is: 12

My typical ball flight is: fade/push  (normally strike my irons reasonably well with good distance but strike is a bit thin atm)

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: weak fade where it really feels like my weight is on the back foot and I come out of the swing loads

Videos:

I have had a couple of lessons in the last 6-8 months, most recently a few days ago. The coach, who i trust, was trying to get me to stop dropping my left shoulder on the backswing and get my hands a bit higher at the top of the swing.

My bad miss is a weak fade, and the occasional shank!

Anyone seeing anything else or any other ideas on how to get higher hands etc

I am def going to look at starting to use evolvr as I'm moving to spain and probably wont get lessons out there

Thanks

George

George, I moved you post here, please don't start any new swing threads, keep any updated videos in this thread, thanks.

Would like to see you clean up some set-up pieces first. Part of why the head drops is because the chin/eyes aren't down enough at address. Lowering the head during the swing is just an adjustment you make to see the ball more clearly.

Good Golf Posture (How to Address the Golf Ball)

Grip also looks weak and palmy. Getting the grip in a better position will lessen the amount you roll the forearms during the takeaway.

Work on that stuff first then post some updated swings.

Unfortunately haven't been able to play properly for a few months as I have been ill, but have been to the range a few times in the last few weeks.

I am struggling with inconsistent contact with my irons. Mainly a thin contact. From looking at my own video, obviously i dont know much about the golf swing!, but it looks like my head is moving quite alot as I try and turn my shoulders in the backswing. Would this make it hard to have a consistent strike.

Here is a swing from today with a 9 irons, sorry about the quality!!!!

Any other ideas?

Now I can start playing again I will def look to get stuck into evolvr again

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
