I hit fairways very much but I have quite a bit of spin on my drives 3k + but when I hit a 2.5k by god it goes that's why I crush my irons I come down on ball. Thus why I get to much spin on drive :)

Yes, but your club head speed is not related to spin. We're just wondering why your driver club head speed is so much lower than what we expect given that you have such a high iron club head speed.

Oh sorry I guess I just don't swing as fast with driver but hey its in middle and not all about distance I hit my 5 wood just as far it's just one of them things I will work on

I would try getting a full on fitting. Even a $50 fitting at Golfsmith would be better than what you have now. You want to find some combination of shaft/head that will give you a more proportional speed as your irons. I would start with the same swing weight as your irons.

Oh dear I've started something, I hit my 7 iron 185 I've had real problems with my swing and shanks my instructor sorted this and he believes I should be in low single figures if I get rest of game on, I might post vid of 8 iron shot see what you's think :)

Yes your instructor is right because with your length you should be way better than an 18 HCP.

I have x100s at mo

Take some FO videos, you might be releasing too early? I was until I got on a monitor to "tune" my swing a bit. This is one of my problems as well, I was up to 7mph faster 3 feet before impact. At your SS it could be 10? Check it.

Fwiw, it's not possible to use 110%. Some might use it as a hyperbole, but it doesn't add much imo. 100% is a lot of effort and how do you quantify it? We got thousands of muscles in the body and they need to be synced. Try hitting a ball as hard as u possibly can next time you're on the range. Leave nothing behind. I think you'll find we are not close to 100% effort. It's been a while since I played, but I think my 8i was around 165 yards. I like hitting shorter irons into green. Especially 8 and below makes me feel in a lot more control and able to aim at flags. Hitting long irons far is also nice. The downside is less clubs to play with on yardages in the wedge area. My current clubs are stronger lofted than the last set and does fly farther. I won't put a number on how far you should hit your clubs. Work on ballstriking and see where that gets you, then take it from there. Clubs, ball, grip etc. can be used to adjust length.

Would that not be the definition of 100% effort?

I meant it's not 100% when we normally play. And trying to give it everything you got will demonstrate that we never use that much effort when normally playing.

Right guys, been to range most of day and found out that I have been delofting my club at inpact so my 8 iron turns into a 7 or 6 I can quite easily do this but if I swing normal I hit it nice and high about 155 so I can hit either shot 175 or 155 I feel comfortable with both:)

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
