I need to get back to these.  Unfortunately, my home setup is such that I can't really do these at home, so I need to get to the course to use them.  Only field near me has a big "no hitting golf balls" sign, which, while this isn't hitting golf balls, it would look that way to an observer.

Fortunately, there's a night-lit course near me.  I should plan on getting back there and doing this more.  I was getting progress and results for a while.  Should have recorded my numbers in a spreadsheet when I knew where I wrote them...

Which course do you go to? I might join you if close?

BTW, what field actually explicitly doesn’t allow golf balls 😂

I’m still using a similar SS with good results too.

So I went to check the field... and I couldn't find the sign.  Or the field that I thought was there, half a block behind my house.  It's still on the map but now filled with trailers.  There's a baseball diamond, fenced in... in any case, the course isn't that far off and if I start scheduling it, I'll probably go more often.  I'll mark that as a goal.

Just to measure my progress, I did some swings with my regular driver without hitting a ball about a week ago, and I reached 111 mph on a smooth, balanced swing, wasn't trying to swing out of my shoes or 110% max effort either. I was consistently in the 108-110 mph range on the rest of the swings, and no single swing was under 107 mph.

Prior to starting SuperSpeed I was right around 100 mph consistently, never higher than 105 mph measured on both the swing speed radar and multiple other launch monitors at various fittings. I have gained at least 5 mph on both the low end and top end of my clubhead speeds in roughly 6 weeks of training.

I'm blown away and can't wait until spring to see how my driving distance will have changed. I do plan on renting a trackman bay at an indoor place at least once this winter so I'll be able to at least get some feedback on how far my yardages have increased.

This super interesting.   I am currently going to a trackman simulator once a week, and my driver is basically exactly where you started.   if I have a big swing, I may top out at 105, but most of the time at 102-103 with my driver.   I've done a really good job of optimizing launch angle and the swing path that tends to give me the largest smash factor.  (path 4 degrees in-to-out, clubface 2 degrees open, FWIW).   This is constantly giving me drives around 265.   Those changes have given me about 20 extra yards on my drive, but at this point I feel that I'm pretty much maxed out unless I find a way to gain swing speed.   If I could find a way to get my average speed up around 110, that increases my drive from about 260-265 to 285-290.     That is really a whole different game.

If you do get to a simulator sometime, I would love to know how all this superspeed training has affected your swing speed when hitting a ball, and if those changes have created any changes in swing path or ball flight..

I am going to try to get on one here within the next few weeks, but unfortunately I don't have any starting/baseline numbers for swing path, the launch monitors at my local Golf Galaxy just do the ball flight and clubhead speed but not the face/path numbers.

My ball flight has traditionally been a fade with my miss being a straight slice, and I am pretty steep on the downswing so if I had to guess, I'd say I have an out to in path and my face is open to that path most of the time.

Somewhat unrelated to SuperSpeed, the latter half of my golf season in 2018 I was working on increasing the attack angle with driver. When I was fitted for my driver I had a downward angle of attack and hitting it low, so I got a 12 degree driver and a high launch shaft, but now that I am hitting more up on the ball, I suspect I might be launching it too high with too much spin, especially with swing speed increases too.

I'll update this thread with some data once I can get in front of a simulator.

Out of curiosity @lastings how much are you paying for the once a week visit to the trackman simulator? Just want to compare rates with ones around me. There's one by me that's $25 for an hour.

The place I go to is $39/hr, but there are discounts if you buy more.   So I bought a 10 hour package for $250.   I go 30 minutes at a time.   so, All in all, $250 for 20 weeks isn't too bad of a deal.

For what it's worth, it's about $30-$40 per hour in Denver for a trackman simulator session.

I am still messing around with this speed training thing with some positive results. I probably mentioned this before, no matter the placement of the radar device, swing speed when hitting an actual ball is a little slower while others report it should be faster. Perhaps a mental, anxiety thing, or ball offers resistance. Its all relative though, for as long as I see a measurable improvement and a little distance increase on the course, its all good.

I’m maintaining my swing speed with only the first two exercises. My sequencing is still off when it gets cold. I think my backswing might be too fast?

Working on tempo a little bit along with my heavy weight and nominal weights. Still using a prototype SS as well for speed gains.

Makes sense that with a ball it could be slower? The club head does decelerate at impact, but not 100% sure. It just depends upon what sort of algorithm they run to capture swing speed? My own software running on my prototype Doppler reads just before impact. That might be wrong? IDK for sure.

yes, that is what I thought, but the company literature and others posts seems to indicate the opposite. Ignorance and Apathy.

They might be partially reading the ball speed ‘bump’. The peak speed at impact and the ball speed need to be separated, but the data coming from a Doppler is a big lump of club and ball at impact. That’s why I switched to a 2500 frame per second optical system in my own prototype.

I picked up the Men's set and a radar via Amazon. I did my first session yesterday. What I noticed first was my left handed backswing is so much shorter than my right. I had shoulder surgery on my right shoulder about 7 years ago and it still hasn't got the flexibility back.

I did warm up a bit, but need to warm up more in the cold (it was 30F out). My neck was a bit still after as well as my left wrist. I will do a longer warm up Wednesday and record my numbers.

The cold affects my timing a lot too. Throws off a lot of things, but I’d guess you’re used to doing sports in sub-freezing conditions?

BTW, we have a lot more traffic in Pasadena from our Bedford office than usual, and they think it’s warm here...😂

I did my swings yesterday and it was in the mid 20s outside and I surprisingly managed to tie my my PR on the step through with the green club at 133mph, and break a PR on the step through with my red club at 120mph Only thing I noticed about the cold was my hand that didnt have a glove on got pretty cold but other than that I didnt seem to notice any decrease in speed or timing.

Obviously, you’re better adapted to cold weather.

Most people do the SS in warm conditions.

If I could do them in warm conditions, I would. My wife asked me why was doing them last night when it was so cold and I told her because I hadn't done them in like 5 days due to the snow and I want to keep increasing my clubhead speed! She didnt get it :-P

    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
