Very nice, this will revolutionize the city courier industry IMO. I'm not sure how much say any city will have on allowing people to use them because of many different reasons. NYC or Boston are pretty tight on their ordinances so thise would be my first candidates to try and control this some how!

My only concern with being able to pedal if you want. The thing is about twice as heavy as a road bike.

Actually I will amend that comment. The typical bike weight for a non high performance road bike is in the low 30's. Not sure if 10 lbs makes that big of a difference.

I did the math on it, and it would basically take an extra minute on average to go from where I live to where I work. I tend to park about a 10 minute walk from where I work. This I could just bring in the building to our bike room and charge the thing.

Where I see these things getting real popular is in Bike Share facilities were you pay a membership to be able to use bicycles around town. If they can get these as a lower cost option for electrical bicycles I think that will be a big selling point for those type of companies.

The comments there throw doubt on the doubt.

There's also: https://electricfatbike.wordpress.com/2015/02/08/changes-to-the-storm-electric-fatbike-indygogo-campaign-suddenly-make-it-far-more-beleivable/ .

They're having a demo day as well, before the campaign ends.

The question of why not have the accurate information from the beginning wasn't answered.. Let's move ahead was kind of a weak argument (none at all really) It was a good thing that they at least addressed the issues raised which means maybe they are not thieves, but if it wasn't brought up would they have done it? The more pressing question would have as many people gone ahead with it if they knew the actual facts from the start? Maybe, but I guess we will never know for sure.. I do look foreard to seeing the final outcome though, because this really could be a nice product if it all works out, and cersion 2.0, 3.0 ect after they get through all the kinks will be even better in like 5 years or so.

They aren't always available, or you have a billion other things going on.

We weren't entirely sure what paper and cover materials we would have on book, and added those details later.

I understand that, but that's not the same thing.. It didn't matter to the consumer what paper you used as that's not why they are buying the book.. What battery will be used and what kind of power the bike will have is the core function of the bike.. I'm hard pressed to believe that they didn't know that info. I'm sure like the author of that article you posted many will just over look it and just hope nothing else changes.. If after people invested in the book you came out and said oh we made a mistake and the content of the book will be an autobiography of Erik and Dave I'm not sure everyone would be happy. I know your the technical type, so I'm not convinced that you are 100% happy that they have changed the specs you thought you were buying? I mean look at what you listed in your original post and then put the revisions next to them and you will see that they pretty much all changed..

The changes to the battery are not what I would call significant. Plus, these things are subject to change and adaptation. I would think some probably do care about these changes.

To drop the range from 40 miles (30 to 50) down to 20 (or more like 15 according to the article) is a pretty significant drop in functional performance IMO.

It even says only 10 if you hop on the bike and don't pedal at all.  I know nothing about electric bikes and how they work or are supposed to work, but I assumed the pedals would be there only when necessary.  Even the author of the "correction" article says as much.

So to go from a bike advertised as $500 that will go 40 miles to one that, in reality will only go 10 (and now costs 600) is pretty significant if you ask me.  I wouldn't have signed up for this anyway, but that type of bait and switch crap is the kind of stuff that would bring up a big red flag even if I was interested.

The price change was planned all along. It'll be $699 after February 13. The $499 pricing was only available for a few days.

I would have 2 questions. Maybe this is talked about but I can't find it.

Does it say anywhere how much the battery is? Is there a warranty on the battery?

Looks impressive, all they need now is a Raleigh Chopper style one with a Racoon tail aerial on the back ;-)

On a serious note if you want an ebike of this sepc here in the UK you can expect to part with a lot more pennies

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
