I think I suggested last summer that we have one near Tristan... I forget if that was something you'd be up for. There are lots of great courses out that way that are surprisingly empty in June, July, and August. We could make an extended weekend of playing 2-3 of them.

Yes, of course I'd be up for it.

I would love to be able to plan some outings with my son and daughter during their summer break.

I'd like to get as many people as possible. Since this is the one weekend in May that @bplewis24 is unavailable, maybe we look at the May 9th date. Can you make that work @Lihu ?

It seems like May 2 works best for the group, so it's probably a good idea to try and stick with that date.  Since my buddy likely won't be able to make it out to the desert, the next trip (after this) is probably a better option for me anyway.

Looking back, it looks like May 9th might be better for more people. It would be a shame if you missed it coming down from the Bay Area and all. . .

Yep, I think Jeff expressed a preference for May 2nd, but if he can play the 9th, then it seems as though we could accommodate everyone's schedule. @jefkve - does the 9th work?

It'll be without me as it's mother's day weekend, but I'll catch up with you all in the summer. . .

Yeah, this seems like a weekend we'd probably want to avoid.

Well, if it's not going to be the TST outing, I will invite my mother to golf that day instead.

I have this feeling, I'll be at an art museum or something similar.

If we both end up at the Getty Center, perhaps we can hit balls off the little grass circle overlooking the valley?

. . .and don't tell me you haven't thought about this while eating lunch at the Getty. . . :-D

I guess it's better to have some sense slapped into by this board than by my wife. I'll rescind the suggestion.

Ok... I guess it's back to being the 2nd unless anybody has a better suggestion.

Now, what about course; you guys want to come out towards me (chance it'll be pretty hot - average temp that time of year is low 90s), or out in the IE or OC area? I'm good with whatever.

Cool, I'm back in the mix of things! (Me and my son.)

We haven't been to Industry Hills yet. @Big C mentioned SCGA discounts until the summer? As I recall there were lots of trees for nice summery shade. IDK, if my current game would appreciate those "tree" conditions as much as previously, but it was very nice and cool.

EDIT: They even have youtube flyovers of the holes! http://www.ihgolfclub.com/course-practice/zaharias-course

I think so?

I figured since my son is taking lessons with Mike it should be okay as well?

Will see what everyone else has to say, I know if us 4 play were good but my father in law would like to also.

Man I have not played much at all. With my step father passing away and driving to SD every weekend and my Justin Eagle Scout ceromoney this past weekend my game has gone to shit.

I think I have play twice in 6 weeks.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
