I would love to go but I don't see in the near future getting my handicap updated. :(

Thanks for the invite tho.

I'm not sure what you mean by getting your handicap updated, you just have to be an 8 or 9 or lower.

Adding @bjfox10 to the discussion as a consideration. Needs more posts so everyone can get to know him, but a great guy.

Thanks @iacas . I am currently waiting on some information from athletic director about our fall schedule. I coach boys volleyball in the fall so i just have to see how the two schedules align.

If I qualify by June I would be interested in making sure the pac nw is represented on the west team. I don't have a official handicap at this moment, but I joined a men's club this year so I will soon. And I believe that I will be in good shape by summer. Main qualifications are that I enjoy haVing fun and golfing. A pretty laid back guy by nature and I have had incredibly good experiences on similiar trips put together online in my other hobbies....

Nice, we could use the help!!

If you haven't already, you could also start a myswing thread and perhaps get a little extra help in trying to get that handicap in shape by June ( @mvmac is the man!).  You're so close already!!!

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I plan on keeping an official handicap this year and it should be below 7.

Throwing my name in the hat. In the last year I have gone from a 19 to sub 13 with help of this site and Erik and Dave recently. Currently playing very close to single digit (Last three rounds at 84, 81 and 82). Have played with some of you last year and would absolutely kill to be on this team. Very little room on a six man team though.

Didn't state my case. I am probably the most unorthodox 'golfer' you will see swing because of a physical limitation. Erik could possibly attest, but I always strive to find a way, am decent company no matter what. Great in team competitions, very little flusters me and am always up for a beer or two after the rounds.

Well.....I never claimed that I would actually be help :pound: .  Just that I would be interested in participating.  btw, I did plug in my last 10 rounds into a online handicap calculator and it threw 8.7 back at me.  I was playing a lot of golf last fall so I was in a good rhythm.  I expect my short game stuff to be a bit rusty but I feel like I am hitting my irons and driver better now than last fall.  Mostly due to help from this board so I am feeling confident....

Is there any kind of preliminary expectations for cost???  I have no idea what golf costs in Arizona.  I will say that being from the "north" west I am a little worried that I might melt on the course.....

I didn't mean anything bad by that. Just giving @Golfingdad a hard time.

Good job on getting that handicap down, keep up the good work.

No clue at the costs. I am sure that detail will come out as the teams pan out.

Don't worry, my attempt at throwing out sarcasm via emoticon was obviously a epic fail. :)

As @Golfingdad said, we'd be happy to have you and feel free to start a swing thread if you want help. Would need you to stay in that 8/9 handicap range (or lower ;-) ) and post more/stay active on the site.

Consider them "thrown in."

Just to share some of the numbers and my thoughts, right now the East Coast team has four team members pretty well sewn up (though a certain Greek Chicago resident should post more… :-D , and a certain Dayton-area person should avoid the injury bug and the big numbers this year via wild driving). The fifth spot is half grasped, and there is some strong contention for the sixth spot.

My list of "possible" names for the fifth and sixth spots is currently… twelve names long. Twelve people for one or two spots. Now, some of those ten will self-select out, others won't meet the post count criteria perhaps, but some new names I haven't thought of might be added, too.

Anyway, if this goes well, we may look to have a slightly bigger event (8 people per team) in 2016 or '17. We'll know by sometime in June, too. The enthusiasm is great. I think I'll make some badges here soon.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Day 3- Practiced putting for 20 minutes.
    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
