I think we're due a couple updates. Mmvac's worst ball 9 and of course results from the Joe v Pro match.

They started at 3:30 AZ time, so I think it will be at least a couple hours before they are done and he can get in front of a computer with an icy beer in hand.

Mvmac, does owe us some results. Since he's my pro, I wonder if. . .

Ok results are in. But I am to tired to post,.... Just kidding. I won the first 6 holes so match was over. We started on hole 2 to be sure we got ahead of some members getting ready to play, I hit the ball terrible on first hole but saved boggie to win pro hit three wood off ever T 250 plus. HIS FIRST shot striped down the middle buy second slice behind a tree. First shot from behind tree he cut it and put it to up close but second shoot hit tree and went 40 yards backward, he got a double. Second hole I hit bad t shot but good 2nd then hit 9 iron to 5 ft, pro made par I drain first put for bird, first 6 holes went just like that pro would make one great shot then get in trouble on second. He twice sank first putts from 18, 20 ft, but then missed second one. He hit three trees. It was hard to watch, I was one over after 6, then my weels fell off. HIT BOTH tee shoots in the water on par three pro was on green, on ball was only half way submerged so I played it got all wet but did get ball out but scored tripple. One for pro. I got double next hole pro got par. So I am up 4 holes going into last hole which was the par 5 10th. Pro presses the bet, we both have a par putt pro from 12 ft me from 8, He drained them both. My first was short by less than an inch. Second was off line So know money changed hands. It was a very fun format

Very nice, cool format. Bet the pro wants none of that again.

Thx guys. I would say I had my A- game today, didn't drive it in any trouble (gave myself a clear shot at every green), had a lot of good "misses" and the putting was really good. The other thing that works in my favor is the course I play, Bernardo Heights CC, is a relatively easy course. Here's the nine I played, it's not a long course even from the blue tees.

Missed 3 greens and made two up and downs, on the par 3's. Funny thing is that the hole I bogeyed is one I typically play well. My goal was to break 40 so hitting 6 greens with 9 N-gir's gets that done. Making those putts for par is just a bonus.

    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
