Only adults who try to make others envious by posting pictures of business class tickets, champagne, breast augmentation, 'bikini bridges" and thigh gaps or have  a need to show off their bodies in other ways, hoping to get "likes" or, in the case of well known people, column inches.  I include wannabe gangsta or pretentious "literary" tattoos, wads of cash and guns.

Instagram is a terrific and very useful tool. I'm all for it it the majority of cases. Kids love it. And why shouldn't they?

So, basically anyone that's showing off.

loooooooooooooooool jesus f'ing christ Go to anybody's facebook and instagram and you'll see the exact same thing. That's what social media is for, that's what social media is about. Instagram is about taking pictures and videos specifically, for gods sake.

Excessive selfie type posts point to to narcissism. Social media media is fine but an insistent need to share your life and what you do with strangers to validate yourself points out character. @vinsk seems to have a pretty good handle on what is more than likely the case. I too agree she will be with someone rich or at least have some sort of media popularity in short time. I would speculate that she may already have established this. I also feel like certain posters are rather naive to the real and quite dangerous world of the narcissist whether it be male or female. I am sorry but Amanda brought nothing but looks to the table to an already successful golfer who has done what he has always done, playing golf. Amanda may have brought more awareness to Dufner but she didn't improve his golf game. She can say she gave up a career but I highly doubt that she will work a day in her life. You don't need black and white facts here, behavior is enough. I am not saying she's not fun to look at but I would not want a close relationship with her. If it wasn't for narcissist women the internet would be no fun. Duff will hopefully find himself an attractive "regular girl" and settle down in 3-5 years.

Good thing you had your personal footman with you to snap the pic. It's great to have staff. Now how about a shot of your "bikini bridge"? Lol

This post isn't about whether Amanda is a gold digger. But I do think we can make inferences from what we know about the settlement. Does $2.5M indicate anything about Amanda's fault? If it is significantly less than what she would get from a judge in a typical equitable division of assets, then I would infer yes. They've been married 3 years, and Jason has made (someone calculated) >20M in that time. You can't divide money already blown, however, so earnings are not the final answer. Presumably they accumulated at least $10M in assets during that time. That's probably low because it assumes he made $20M and they managed to completely blow $10M (i.e. earnings spent with no asset to show for it), so the real figure of assets accumulated is probably $10M-$15M. As a starting point for equitable division, Amanda would be entitled to half, or $5M-$7M. So why is she settling for less than half of that? Typically an all cash settlement would be less, as cash is more "valuable" at the instant than assets which must be liquidated and divided. A prenuptual agreement probably doesn't explain it, because pre-nups typically focus on assets (and appreciation of those assets) then in existence when the pre-nup is signed. Jason made most of his money after they were married. Amanda also has a lawyer, so I think we can assume she is well informed of where she stands and what her reasonably achievable outcomes are. So, what else might explain why she's taking less than half of what would likely be the default settlement? There are two "most likely" reasons: fault, or she just wants out as quickly as possible. In equitable division, evidence of infidelity, or if she "squandered" a disproportionate amount of the earnings, could swing the division significantly in Jason's favor. She might not want to submit to a presentation of evidence about her indiscretions, or her attorney may have advised her that the judge is likely to give her significantly less if she has misbehaved. It's also possible that she's just tired of being married to Jason and is willing to take a (relatively) small, all-cash settlement to get him to agree quickly. I, for one, am not willing to assume that she's leaving up to $5M on the table because she's just a nice person. Of course that's possible, but it's extremely unlikely. Based on (admittedly parse) facts, I think the most likely conclusions are these: --Amanda is taking a nominal cash settlement because she unilaterally ended the marriage, either through fault or abandonment; OR --The Dufners have squandered the vast majority of his earnings over the last 3+ years, and there simply isn't that much to divide. In this, it's likely that Amanda played a primary role in the squandering--otherwise she could force him to give up MORE than half of the assets accumulated since the marriage, so she would likely still not settle for $2.5M. As for her instagram account, I certainly would not want my wife constantly uploading photos of herself in micro-bikinis flaunting her nearly naked body. I don't go as far as @Shorty , but the steady stream of a$$ shots is not what most people would want from the mother of their (future) children.

Gotta love all the pseudo-liberal, politically correct guys on this forum...the country and this forum have  been emasculated.

Now I'm going to return to heaping spoonfuls of gunpowder in my budweiser and sprinkling baby seal fat on my wheaties.

New Dufner theme song:

I've been run down and I've been lied to.
And I don't know why, I let that mean woman make me a fool.
She took all my money, wrecked my new car.
Now she's with one of my good time buddies,
They're drinkin' in some cross-town bar.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I've been tied to the whippin' post.
Tied to the whippin' post, tied to the whippin' post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin.

My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool.
But I had to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin' you.
Drown myself in sorrow as I look at what you've done.
But nothing seemed to change, the bad times stayed the same,
And I can't run.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I've been tied to the whippin' post.
Tied to the whippin' post, tied to the whippin' post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin'.

Maybe this could be part of the irreconcilable differences in their temperament?

Don't get hung up on that term. It's just a term of art that probably derives straight from the statute concerning divorce in whatever state they filed in.

Thanks for the actual history of the term, but, unfortunately, I got it from a movie title of a movie I didn't actually watch. . .:8)

It's not the "stating" of their opinion that makes them sexist, it's the part about basing said opinion on "their limited exposure of Amanda Dufner [read: they know nothing about her except what she looks like] and their own personal experiences."  If they got burned by a woman and assume that somebody they don't know did the same due to guesses and the fact that they're both women, then that's them being sexist.

Correct.  For me, this thread isn't even about the Dufners ... it's been more about learning about some posters on TST. :)

Yup.  There is a lot of prurient interest in eavesdropping on other people's personal lives.

For those who haven't quite gotten their fill of this kind of stuff, they should check out the exhibit at a NY art galley

http://www.messynessychic.com/2015/03/25/chronicles-of-an-affair-with-his-secretary-found-in-an-abandoned-suitcase/

Exposed to our own voyeurism, the exhibition invites us to discover an archive consisting of hundreds of photographs of the same woman, identified only as “Margret S,” posing in hotel rooms and enjoying secret getaways.

Really, no one knows what goes on inside a marriage.

I've found it best not to speculate.

Over the years, my friends have been shocked when "ideal marriages" have fallen apart, and for wild reasons.

So you don't know me much less than I know about Amanda and you can say I have no clue. I think you have anger issues and couldn't handle a civil conversation. Pros like you are not liked behind your back fyi. I guess you are saying Dufner couldn't be where he is without Amanda? Team Amanda vs Team Jason is the most polarizing debate since Team Edward vs Team Jacob. A sandtrap divided cannot stand. Yes, we can.

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
