I hope Rory crushes Spieth at St. Andrews. That kid really believes he will win all four majors this year. He is not even joking. He really believes it. Crazy.

What's wrong with that? Tiger believed it in 2002. If you don't think you can do it, why play? I do think Rory wins at St Andrews, though, if the weather cooperates. In fact if the weather is perfect, I think Rory destroys that course.

so you are saying that he shouldn't think he can win - St Andrews will be fun to watch

All the buttheads that said they can't stand the tournament and won't watch anymore are probably still watching.. Chambers Bay provided a change.. and true entertainment which is exactly what Golf is for the viewer.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of highest rated US Opens ever with all the controversy

He absolutely can. He broke and tied all sorts of scoring / age records today. He is the new face of golf, for the Americans anyhow.

I had a blast spending the week at chambers! Ran to the airport to get back to CO and was missing the end of the tourney but managed to catch DJ three putt then ran into jimmy walker who said the greens were absolutely terrible! I'm Bummed chambers didn't impress because it truly is an amazing course to play.

I am not saying its impossible but very unlikely. To be so confident about it, with such a tough field, is a bit too much for me. I hope Rory crushes him at St. Andrews.

A little off topic, but I think David Duval needs to be looked at as a lead analyst. Love his commentary. Maybe when Miller retires.

David is an excellent analyst, there's no denying that.

He has bested the "tough" fields at the two biggest tournaments so far this year.   His confidence can only soar higher and that is half the battle.

Now I want Rory to be crushed... So what if he believes he has the game for it. I believe he could easily do it judging by the last two majors it could happen. I don't know if it will but there is a good possibility. I don't want anyone crushed but Rory better cut out the hot and cold play.

I didn't hear him say he's going to win all four majors this year but an elite athlete at the level he's at has to be confident. He's been the most consistent player on tour all year, won the first two majors so it's not crazy to think he could actually have a shot at winning all four. It's been done before, and it'll be done again.

Duval is good.  But the entire Golf Channel desk doing Live from the Open right now is better than literally everybody on the Fox team.

I ended up not really minding the announcers but the production was severely lacking overall. Hopefully by next year they iron out their kinks.

Basically before the US Open he was already saying that his goal was to win all four majors this year. Today he said he believed he will get it done. Now obviously he did win two, but I just think his confidence is boardering on hubris/arrogance. Even if he believes he will win the next two, at least be a bit more modest about it: Like: Lets not get ahead of ourselves, I will give my best.

I think hope Rory will crush this hubris at St. Andrews.

Sounds like sour Euro talk to me...

Am I the only one who noticed Joe Buck awkwardly call Bobby Jones "Bob Jones"? C'mon man! Let's just wait till next year. Oakmont is going to destroy the field

Again, Neal Lancaster shot 29 twice.  In back-to-back years.  Although I don't know about the -6, I doubt Lancaster did it both times on a Par 34.

Shinnecock and Oakland Hills both Par 35 second nines

    • I’ll give you a little inside information. The ZX series of irons, woods, hybrids, and utilities will be released in the US in January 2021. (You may be able to procure a set from Europe prior to then, but I don’t really want to pay an import fee). First welcome to TST. Secondly what exactly are you looking for when it comes to ball-flight. I play C-Taper 125S in my irons to try to bring my ball flight down, but I still have 110 foot peak height, who would have thunk it. Here’s an out of the box suggestion that might help your decision, see if you can find a 7-iron 785 head on EBay (I’m not sure you can but it’s worth a shot), or buy 2 identical Maltby TE Forged 7-irons, if they have Project X get one with 6.5 hard-stepped and one with 7.0 soft-stepped. Go to the range and see if you notice a difference. Most importantly. It’s probably not that big of a deal at our handicap level. We can shoot 85 about as easily as we can shoot 70. Sharpen your tools and learn to play boring golf. It’ll change the way you play the game.
    • Recently I have been doing something I haven’t done in a while. Avoiding blow-up rounds. I have been playing the kind of golf I’ve wanted to always play. Boring. Pedestrian. Stay out of the shit, call the zoo kind of rounds. Ho-hum kind of golf. The last round I shot in the 80s was in August and that was an 81. My last five rounds have been 73, 76, 78, 73, 71. The last one was pretty boring. I had back to back bogeys on the 2nd and 3rd holes, then birdied the 5th and 6th (pedestrian birdie at 5, 2 putt at the par 5 after a 3-wood on the green straight into the fan from 235 yards) Nearly drove the 395-yard 6th (relax it was straight downwind and as the crow flies its only 340), got up and down for birdie. Then made 12 boring pars in a row for an even-par 71. 12 GIR, 18 nGiR, putted average. I guess I’ve learned how to be that boring golfer. I’ve been fighting a bit of a hook, so I said, “The hell with it, it’s what I’ve got. I’ll just adjust my target accordingly”. I guess having a one-way miss is a good problem to have.
    • Day 121.  More carpet putting;  ruler, putter, real balls.  Getting some decent speed ones past the 36" marker consistently.
    • Day 48 - Moved my mat indoors, took some swings working on my new setup.
