I started playing golf in early high school, and really wasn't any good.  I'd be doing well to shoot in the 80s.  I don't remember my first hole-out from the sand, but I do remember an early eagle, holing out a 6-iron from the fairway of the 6th hole at Elmbrook GC in Traverse City, MI, sometime in ht early college years.  I don't remember a specific instance of holing a bunker shot, so I'm going to guess I made an eagle first.

the only thing wrong with this car is the nut behind the wheel.

Hi Ace:

Hmmm...you're quite the "baller' aren't you.

I see your cap has lower too....so if we ever played golf together would I be embarrassed playing with you?....just askin for a friend.😁...for sure I'm askin for strokes...that's a given.

My hcp hasn’t changed much this season, not exactly working on getting better but thankful that it is not worse.

Paako has bunkers EVERYWHERE!! There is at least one bunker by every green and I spent alot of time in them during my first month so I had plenty of chances to practice🤣 I still get in them but I am pretty good at getting out now! Or at least I am no longer afraid of them...

I had an eagle before I even had a par so I think it is safe to say the eagle came first.

Playing a 90 degree dogleg right...which plays well for an egregious slice. So I swung from my heels, ball went up on two dimples, turns corner and is in the fairway about 150 yards from the green. I then skulled an iron, laser shot that never got over about 2' off the ground...and landed dead center in the cup. One inch left or right and that horrific shot is 150 yards past the green but it is a scorecard, not a what would have happened card, so that was a "2" on a par 4.

Course owners sons were sitting on the bench between hole 4 (my eagle) and hole 5.

"Who was that?"

Me, chest puffed out, smiling as big as one can..."That was me".

Promptly step up to the tee and hit it so badly it goes almost directly behind me, nearly hitting them on the bench and being about 10 yards short of the ladies tees...which were about 11 yards in front of the mens tees. Still an eagle on 4 though...

My chipping s*cks....I'd rather be in a green side bunker anytime...especially if a lot of skins are on the line.....I'm confident out of those bunkers....but because of lousy ball striking....my fairway bunker play is a weakness.

Over the course of 40 years playing I had several bunker hole outs. My first eagle was   last year froM 110 yds out. Now I need an ace.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
