Apparently, Rory led in driving accuracy and approach shot proximity to hole. If he could have made putts, he runs away with this event..

But ... he appears to be a man on a mission even if his putter is not...

The girl friend's Daisy Dukes... with pockets showing and a "wardrobe malfunction" waiting to happen Top had to have been cringe worthy for the PGA.  At least Ricky abandoned his orange for the win. And how about the outdated promo for Mothers' Day featuring Ricky and his Mom. Had to have been a year or more old judging by his long hair in the Promo. Typical PGA... too cheap to film a new Mothers' Day promo? Great golf... BUT you can see the Players Tournament will never equal the class of the Masters!  More on par with a Waste Management Open. Hate to admit it but the girl friend has really changed my opinion of Ricky. Reminds me of the minor league baseball players hooking up with local townies.

That was an awesome finish to the tournament.  Fowler goes 6 under on the last 6 holes to get into the playoff.  Sergio has to birdie two out of three to get in and Kisner birdied 17 and had a great chance for birdie on 18 to win.  Exciting day of golf.

I think it was Pat Perez who led in Driving Accuracy and also in GIR ?

agree on the wardrobe choice - pockets longer than her shorts & strapless top was just begging for a wardrobe malfunction.    Side note ... I was at a first communion party recently & there were some 14 year old girls dressed like HOOKERS (or at least what you would expect to see in an 80's hair metal band video) - skin tight skirts practically up to their ass crack & stilletto's honestly, it was kind of funny to see them all stumbling around in those high heels, but disturbing too in a way.    I guess I'm showing my age ... the way the younger generations dress is bizarre to me ... and I grew up in the 80's !!

For the attention he gets, Fowler needs more than two wins in 142 events for me to not think he's at least a little overrated.

IF Perez beat 80.6% in driving accuracy, hats off to him ...

And who doesn't like a fashionable halter top? The color looked good on her ... dark skin, dark hair, deep yellow top. Some guys don't want the button up type. I'm with Rickie.

With all the talk about overratedness, I didn't see the poll results for being underrated - Haas came to mind immediately as did Jimmy Walker (didn't make the list)......surprised that Watson made both lists (under and overrated).

Me: 11%

Bill Haas (above): 11%

Bubba Watson: 8%

Jordan Spieth: 8%

Charles Howell III: 5%

Graham DeLaet: 5%

Zach Johnson: 5%

Justin Thomas: 5%

Other: 42%

Rory hit the ball better (full swing) than everyone else at the Players Championship. I'd love to know how many birdie putts within 15 feet he missed.

Oh and congrats to Rickie Fowler!!!

Perez hit 82.14% of the fairways.

Here are the weekly performance stats from THE PLAYERS Championship:

THE PLAYERS Winner: Rickie Fowler Weekly leader Finish
Driving Distance 295.6 (11) D. Johnson (311.5) T69
Driving Accuracy 62.50%, 35 of 56 (T43) P. Perez (46 of 56, 82.14%) T17
Strokes Gained: Putting .752 (20) B. Harman (1.751) T8
Greens in Regulation 62.50%, 45 of 72 (T51) P. Perez (57 of 72, 79.17%) T17
Proximity to the hole 30'-6" (T3) R. McIlroy (28-1) T8
Scrambling 70.37%, 19 of 27 (10) B. Harman (15 of 20, 75.00%) T8

Usually the leader of the tournament is near the top in GIR's. For Fowler to end up winning being T51 just shows he played smart golf and knew were to miss on the course. His scrambling is 70%, so that clearly helped him make up for it. Still even with T51 in GIR he was T3 in proximity. It wasn't like he was all over the place. Clearly he liked hole 17. ;)

Oh and congrats to Rickie Fowler!!!

On the final day yes, by a large margin probably. Going basically -8 in the final 10 holes he played was amazing.

On the whole tournament, nope. He wasn't even in the top 50 in GIR for the week.

Sorry for not multi-quoting. When I quoted Crim it bumped me down to the new editing area.. I forgot to scroll up to the area for editing my existing post. oops

I didn't see the bit about Billy Horschel speaking to the lady who clicked her camera in his backswing. The article said he was quite upset and would've "ripped him a new one" if it was a guy. Also said Sergio got heckled quite a bit. I wish that wouldn't happen. I can't imagine heckling the guy in a middle of a tense golf tournament. But all in all just an amazing conclusion. Fowler really stepped up.

Rory's proximity to the hole though...he missed a ton of putts within 15 feet.

I don't think so personally. He's been a great ambassador for the game to younger fans, I think that's just one of the reasons for the attention. His performance has been stellar since his swing change with Butch. The results weren't wins but you can't overlook his finishes in the majors and OWGR.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
