I've been Playing Golf for: Just returning to golf after a ten year or so break. Before that I was playing very regularly through my early teen years.

My current handicap index or average score is: I have't really been on the course much recently to be able to answer.

My typical ball flight is: High (ish) and with a slight right to left movement towards the end of the ball flight

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: I am trying my hardest to eliminate the push shots and when it goes wrong a mild slice. At the moment I am working on trying to square the club face at impact and rotating the forearms on the downswing to help with this. In my last few sessions I have been also trying to improve the hip movement with a lateral movement to initiate the downswing.

I often have trouble maintaining proper tempo and swinging too hard but I dont think I ever swing so hard that my feet come off the ground.

Right at impact your left pivot foot pops off the ground.

You may want to slow it down slightly and focus on having the same rhythm and tempo in your downswing as your backswing.

Welcome to the forum!

Even though the camera angle isn't great, you can still see that you're coming into the ball from the outside:

Related to this is your very steep downswing:

I would read up a little about 5SK on this site, and start participating in the discussion. Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback. I think the foot lifting of the ground may have something to do with the fact I am just wearing normal shoes and not golfing shoes. It was hard to maintain any sort of grip throughout the swing.

I will work on some of the issues raised tomorrow, I will try to have a downswing which is not so steep, improve the posture and try to initiate the downswing with the hips and a lateral movement.

I have another video shot from the front view, perhaps this might show up some more of my faults. Going to try tomorrow to put into action some of the 5SK.

    • This is a fun leaderboard. I don't feel particularly vested in anyone specifically albeit we all know one man is looking like he will most probably put this championship to sleep by the time the day is over today. On a different note, I've changed my tune on BDC in the last year or so. I found myself applauding and genuinely happy for him for making the cut yesterday. Iffff a LIV guy wins this year I would rather it be him. Unlikely Scottie who seems to have supreme control of all his levers, he lives a bit more on the edge and yet has the perseverance and might I say, infectious positivity of a small time hustler. Dude just keeps hammering away. Love it.

    • I think it’s more about conservation of angular momentum. If the hands didn’t slow down you wouldn’t release it and the clubhead would barely be moving faster than the hands. The hands start pulling up and back as you near impact, which makes the club rotate around its own CoM as well as rotating around the system, which makes it move faster, which as you noted is the idea.    You can watch all this happen if you find a YouTube video of a pro golfer face on and go frame by frame you can measure on your screen how far each piece moves per frame. As those distances change that’s acceleration and deceleration. You’ll see the hands slowing down and the clubhead speeding up
    • I see, so it must have to do with the shaft being flexible and bending as you swing it.
