I've been Playing Golf for: 30 years (Coming off a 10 year layoff)  High School and 2 years of College golf NAIA.

My current handicap index or average score is: 5-10

My typical ball flight is: Draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Push/block or pull hook

Videos: Caddie View

Down the Line:

Coming from about a 5 year layoff.  Would appreciate any help I can get.

When I am hitting the ball well I generally hit a straight/Draw. But when I start missing its either a push/fade or a pull hook. These are hard to judge as they can happen from shot to shot.

Immediately from the slow motion videos I seem to be hitting with mostly my upper body with very little legs in the downswing. Maybe thats the problem and also why I am pretty short with everything right now.

I agree with that, work on adding more "pressure" into the ground on the downswing.

After doing the drill in the video and some "baseball" swings I could feel a lot more lower body action. My swing doesn't look much different but I'm not so bunched up feeling at impact and you can see a big difference in my lower body at impact. My hips are much more open and facing the target. Thanks so much for your help. Will post an update in about a month.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
