I've been Playing Golf for: 6 months

My current handicap index or average score is: 33.8

My typical ball flight is: slight fade

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: mega fade

I struggle very badly with slicing. Any help is appreciated

From what I can see, it looks like your left arm is extremely stiff (However it shouldn't be extremely loose or bent) and it is pushing your right arm back. Your right arm is bending way too much. Surprisingly, you have quite good rotation. When you set up like frame 1, rotate your body (This does NOT mean move your arms, but rather, your abdominals and shoulders) so that your club is parallel to the ground and target of your feet. Your arms should still be straight with your right arm slightly bent. This should look something like frame 2. Next, continue rotating without your arms. this is actually quite easy because all you have to do is fold your right arm. Continue rotating until your shoulder is UNDER your chin. This should look like frame 4. You are taking your club wayyyyyy too far back. However a positive in your swing is that your right armpit is close to your body. You do not want your right arm to be extremely high and detached from your body. After having your swing set up like frame 4, you want to rotate back down without dipping too much (a little is fine to compress the ball) and without the use of your arms. At frames 6 & 7, you can see that even after he hit the ball, he is still looking at the ground. However, your follow through is already quite good, so there is not much you need to change there.

Some things you want to try and avoid:

1. The use of your arms, rotating does not mean take your clubs back and forth with your arms.

2. Make sure your head does not move when you take it back, when you take it down, it may dip a tiny bit to get compression.

3. When you swing back, try to imagine that you are swinging in a circle.

4. When you swing through, don't try to see where the ball is going.

To be honest, your swing path is all over the place :-D . You start on plane then, you swing way over the top. People who swing over the top sometimes slice because when they come down, you are swinging over plane. Your club face is open, and when you rotate and follow through, your club creates that sidespin.

Go get yourself a mirror and watch yourself slowly take it back and forth.

Watch Billy Horschel's golf swing, he has one of the best in the entire PGA.

Excuse me, i worded it incorrectly, you are not swinging it over the top (that means over plane). What I meant was that your were swinging the golf club way too far back.

    • Tomorrow has foursomes. For me that is the most enjoyable format for these types of events. In my opinion best in sports. Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup and Presidents Cup.
    • Day 278: 9/26/24 Weight shift drills with ProSendr an putting through 50 mm gates.
    • I have been mired in a streak of mediocrity. Nothing but 81, 80, 82, 82, 81, etc. Finally broke the string with a 77 (8.0 differential). We will see if that is the exception or the start of a bit better play.
    • Here are the numbers of the test I just finished. Firstly I tested the app Spectroid were you can messure Hz and Db. Must admit that frecuencies were all over the place and only after 5 swings I switched to another app. Decibels were not normally messured so it was useless info.  Then I downloaded a basic decibel meter to repet the test I did earlier in the week. It was the "Sound Analyzer app" and I made 20 swings with my 6 iron. I put a coin in the corner of a tile on the floor, the PRGR 5 feet behind away from the path of the swing and half foot away from the coin (away from me) I set the phone with the decibel metter app and I swan away from the PRGR and parallel to the phone. This are both readings.  I ordered the speed from "slow" to "fast" and inserted a graph to see if there is any correlation between the speed and the decibels.  As spected on lower swing speeds the ambience sound was even louder than the swoosh of the club so the method was usless. But at higher speeds, beginning at around 60 m/h, it was easy to see that there was a relationship between both. They weren't growing at the same pace but it was proportional. At least for me, for a free app in an old smartphone it seams pretty usefull to know if swing A is faster than swing B in a particular practice session. When you want more speed, all you want to know is if your new move or swing though or technical change is going to give you more or less speed, looking at the decibels is really easy to see that and you don't need to spend money on launch monitors.  Of course, if you want someting that can compare your speed from place to place, session to session or club to club then you don't have much choice than go and get the launch monitor you can afford.  Bonus: Linear regresion of both variables.  Y: db, X: m/h
