What is this? What does it do? I am looking at getting some 690.MB and was looking at putting the X100 shafts in. Should I get the DG X100 W/ Sensicore?

Shafts with Sensicore reduces the vibrations that are felt with every hit. Ever hit one of those shots that just left your hands stinging? Sensicore would reduce that.

Here are the details from true tempers website

"SensiCore is a patented technology designed to absorb the vibration of hitting a golf shot. A frequency tuned polymer core, located inside the shaft, eliminates up to 70% of unwanted vibration at impact
SensiCore radically improves feel and provides golfers the ability to practice and play longer because it decreases the harmful effects of "shock" on the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.

Tour professionals have taken SensiCore to the winner's circle over 150 times. Ask them and they will tell you that SensiCore is the best feel in golf!"

Sensicore adds a little bit of weight to the shaft, but not much. It is essentially a shock absorber inside the shaft to reduce the harsh feel and vibration on off-center hits. I believe the insert is "tuned" to allow feedback, just not the "OW!" type of feedback.

I used to have a set of Pings with the Cushin insert in the shafts, which is very similar to Sensicore. I didn't think they made a big difference either way, but that was with a very forgiving set of irons. With the 690.MBs, you might encounter the stings more often and find Sensicore useful.

If at all possible, find a golf shop that has demos with Sensicore-equipped shafts so you can feel the difference yourself.

Im not saying it dont work but has anyone actually seen what sensicore consists of ? ...... its like a plastic drinking straw that runs the length of the inside of the shaft, with foam spiraled around it from the hosel to the butt.

Something you might want to check out. A product called pro soft inserts, wich can be found at www.myostrichgolf.com . They work great and i believe would be a less expensive option than sensicore. Get the dynamics and put these in inplace of purchasing the sensicores. I've done this and found the pro softs to be a better option.

I think they work. They're not a valid option for me because I want all the feel I can get, and I don't hit so many shots thin that I need to reduce the vibrations.

Never used them what-so-ever i dont think so i couldnt comment on wether they work or not.

On wether they are beneficial or not is a tough call and depends on your ethos on golf / feel / and confidence levels....

Do you want to hit a shot and purely see the result and get a "more solid" feeling to perhaps boost your confidence (with sensicore),OR hit the shot,"feel" how you have struck it and use your knowledge to try to adjust your next swing (without sensicore) ?

Personally if i hit a rank shot i'd rather feel it and know about it too,and not be "conned" into thinking i struck it better than i actualy had.

Yes, but you and I are decent golfers. We don't hit that many totally crappy shots. If you feel harsh vibrations 20 times in 18 holes, or maybe if you play in really cold weather, then Sensicore may make sense to you.

Fair point

If after playing reasonably serious golf for 16 years i had 20 shots a round with harsh vibration,i'd be thinking of suicide not sensicore

Doesnt a graphite shaft effectively do the same thing as a sensicore / ping cushin etc by filtering out some of those "bad vibes" ?

Agreed! Most better golfers want as much feedback as possible. Sensicore takes away the feedback on the golf shot!

It does, but at other expense as well - accuracy, the "feel" people have grown accustomed to in irons, etc.

I have a set of irons gathering dust in the garage that have DG X100 with Sensicore. I don't like the X100. The Sensicore is fine. I put backer rod in my shafts to reduce vibration.

I want to mix gorilla glue or another polyurethane glue with water and pour a set number of grams down some shafts to see what the resulting stiffening foam does to flex and feel. Its worth it just for fun.

I would imagine the flexing of the shaft after a while would break the bond of the gorilla glue and you'd have a rattle. Not sure if gorilla glue rattles or not. :-) Let us know.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
