Why would you pair up one of your best players (so far) to play against RM? I would have saved Reed for a later match up.

DJ would have been RM's best opponent (on paper). Doesn't DJ have something to prove after the last time they played against each other? I will give the Euros a win in the first pairing (no matter who RM is playing). Sorry DJ.

And I would have picked Brandt Snedeker to go against RM in the singles round. I like Brandt. :) He stands a chance of beating RM.

I think the Euros could win three (or four) of the first four matches tomorrow to make things exciting early, but ultimately their lack of depth catches up to them and once the rotation hits Westwood on down, I think they will struggle to get points on the board.

I would say that's a fair assumption, I can think of a few players I would have preferred in the line up, Shane Lowry and even beef Johnston being two.

Was it the guy who said "you suck"?

Edit: Nevermind.  I wrote that after watching the video but didnt read the headline.  Inappropriate, sure,  but bit of an overreaction by rory.

He was probably just setting a standard, boos, jeering and cheerings ok, it's not as if the tournament affects rankings or earnings, it's meant to be fun and it sure is this year! but no need to get personal. There's a few dicks amongst the crowds giving the USA fans a bad name, it's best to weed those suckers out for all concerned.

Lowry, Russel Knox, Kjeldsen maybe. But that's all hindsight; if Westwood won some points everybody is praising the captain for choosing him because of his experience. But yeah, the captain's picks Kaymer and Westwood kind of suck so far.

I would love to see a Reed-Rory match tomorrow.

Me too, and our wish has been granted, I think Rory is possibly one of only a few eu players who could take reed down in his current form, I expect reed to fight like a dog with the crowd fully behind him, but ultimately he'll be tamed by a superior player.

im more interested into who roars the loudest and pops a blood vessel first!

Westwood and Kaymer have been terrible, there's no way Europe can make the big comeback in the singles matches with those two playing so poorly...

....is what everyone said in 2012, and then Westwood and Kaymer won the clutch matches at the end of the day.  Don't count them out.

Paul Casey too, although not in he team for different reasons.

I don't think we can blame Clarke for the picks. Most of us would have taken at least one of Kaymer/ Westwood. However I think he made a big mistake sending them both out in the Saturday Fourballs. Kaymer had shown nothing in two previous outings and Westy looked void of all confidence. Wood and Fitzpatrick looked encouraging in their single outing, and why would you break up the Garcia/ Cabrera Bello partnership?

And I thought I was a terrible putter until I watched Westwood miss two consecutive putts under 3 feet. The one on 18 I couldn't believe he missed.  Not sure that was even 2 feet.

We know that's not the case.

Poor play even at this level starts with driving and approach shots.

Having Reed play Rory is a bad matchup decision by Davis. Rory would beat anyone, and Reed would beat everyone else.

Instead, it's like giving ERO 2 points today, taking away a sure point by Reed. A point for team US may end up being the difference between a Win or Loss today. Sometimes it's best to sacrifice a point rather than takeaway a sure point.

Don't agree.  I don't know this for sure but I would bet hole-for-hole, Reed has scored better than Rory through the 1st 2 days, especially in that afternoon match yesterday.  Wasn't Reed like 10-under?

I think Reed will take him down and stop the comeback attempt early.

That's a good wish and I hope he does. But getting a sure point and avoid maybe a Loss by the best US player, I feel would have been a smarter choice. From a spectator view point, Reed versus Rory will be great to watch.

Reed is out first because he told Love that's what he wants, no doubt in my mind. Love is not going to go against the wishes of the USA's best Ryder cup player.

I think the key for the USA is going to be matches 6-10. Get 3,3.5 points there and I like their chances.

I'm not crazy about these pairings either, a hot Rory beats a hot Reed, seems like we're wasting a guaranteed win for Reed against anyone else.  If I was making the match ups, they'd look very different.  With our lead we just need 6 wins, I don't see six for certain wins based on these pairings.  I definitely don't like having Zach and Kuchar in the position to must win if they split the 10 matches above.

I agree 100%, exchanging a sure point for each team would have been best for the US Team....  ;-)

We could realistically lose four out of the first five matches.  How are the pairings made?  Does home team set their lineup first and the visiting team sets the pairing or is it reverse?  If we lose today, the loss will be on the Captain imo.

I like DJ, JB, Moore, Sneds and Zach today.

All other matchups are very close with the only weak links are Jordan and Rickie.

It's going to be fun to watch.

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
