Tiger found 12/14 fairways and 15/18 greens, taking 31 putts. Those are pretty good numbers for him, except the putting, but that's not unusual when he's focusing on the swing. The putter will come around if he keeps the long game working.

He did miss a few putts, but when you're hitting that many greens your putting numbers might go up.
Nope. Lots of drivers.
Didn't realize. Not too much of a stretch to believe Tiger hitting 86% of his fairways during a round involved a number of irons or fairway woods; certainly doesn't warrant the doh icon, I don't believe.

Why not? You could have looked up how far the ball went on his drives. 300+ several times. Unlikely to be his "irons or fairway woods" especially given the soft conditions.

Good for the game if Tiger gets back in contention at tournaments.  However, it is yet to be seen if he can perform under pressure.  Hope so.

Tiger has played like a 20 handicapper, it's all over the media, people have made jokes and people have gathered at his holes to watch a possible train wreck...you don't think he's under any pressure?

I would guess that he's able to cope fine with the media and people pressure. He's been living with this for so many years. It's the tournament pressure and his own expectations, wanting to get back to something that resemble his old form. I don't think his thoughts after a poor drive is "How will the crowd react", but more "That was a terrible shot and it might cost me shots".

I think he's more under pressure from himself than from what other people think of him. Really I don't think he cares what the media or fans think of his golf game.

He always seemed the type where he is his own harshest critic.

I think he's finally turning the corner a bit here. He still has his big miss right, but it wasn't nearly as prevalent at Greenbrier as it was over the past few months. Still the misses are less and less. Being in the top 5 in proximity to the hole is pretty damn good.

Good call. I just think Tiger's human and knowing that people are wondering if he's gonna chilly dip has gotta be somewhat bothersome at least.

I was referring to the internal pressure of winning at the PGA level.  The pressure I was referring to was hitting a shot that you're not comfortable with when you are in contention.

Tiger's been "free balling" (Spieth's term) since '99, maybe '97. Spieth and Greller essentially attributed this to winning the US Open so the significance of it cannot be overlooked. Tiger has played with self-induced pressure this season because he doesn't want to shoot 85s so he's probably played a little scared in a few rounds. But he has not played with serious pressure in a long time.
