I think this is an ugly thing to accuse someone of without substantial support. Even if this is not true, it creates a group of people that will behave and spread rumors as if it is. Poor form.

A lot of publications like the NE do this to plant a seed. They find a connection and they throw out a story. Then you see if the seed grows. Other media agencies then dig deeper, throw out dollar signs and find out if it's true. If it is, the NE gets credit. Like I said from the start, if this really did happen, it will come out from a much more reliable source. But if it didn't, it will die. If I had to put a guess on it, even though Tigers got a bad past, I just can't see him going this far to do this to Jason. I feel there may have been some flirting and texting between Amanda and Tiger and prolly others, but nothing more. I just don't think you stoop that low. This isn't lifetime TV.

She really is just your average narcissist posting her selfies and doings on social media for attention. In this case she was married to a professional golfer pulling in his star power to get 10000 times more viewers. Otherwise she would just be a cute chick with fake boobies only known by a small following. The fact that a large component of single golfers would love to have her in the sack makes her possibly interesting to Tiger. Maybe she has Tiger's cell and was trying to position herself into Tiger's stable. Knowing he was taking trips and showing up on her own accord to position herself for an opportunity. This really is not a far off possibility for someone who is trying to maintain a certain life for herself.

She deleted her Instagram account.

Despite the knee jerk reaction to the fact the news was published by the NE, the reality is that it has broken many stories like this and knows that it will be sued if it is inaccurate.  So, the fact it published this probably shows substantial support.

With that said, you are right, this is all poor form.

BUT IT'S FUN!!

Well, there are defenses against libel. One of them includes public figures and officials. That's why I said yesterday if you can prove a connection, you can get away with it. Public figures very rarely win libel suits. The numbers are something like less than 5%. And I'm sure the NE knows how the system works and has something that can supply if need be. That's why I've said all along I think there's no doubt they have something....I just don't know if the whole thing is true. But the seed's been planted, and I'm sure there's digging going on to see if this thing's for real or not.

No.  Being a public figure is not a defense against a libel action.  It does require a higher degree of proof -- the celebrity must prove knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard of whether a statement is true or false.  The NE would not publish this if it made the story up or did not receive some reasonably believable information supporting it.

Here's what it says regarding public figures and public officials:

"Under modern law, a plaintiff who is a public official or public figure must prove falsity as a prerequisite for recovery. Some states have likewise now provided that falsity is an element of defamation that any plaintiff must prove in order to recover. Where this is not a requirement, truth serves as an affirmative defense to an action for libel or slander.

A statement does not need to be literally true in order for this defense to be effective. Courts require that the statement is substantially true in order for the defense to apply. This means that even if the defendant states some facts that are false, if the "gist" or "sting" of the communication is substantially true, then the defendant can rely on the defense."

I agree with you that they would not publish if they did not receive some believable information. They definintely have something. I personally don't think they have the full proof, but they have enough to make a story out of it and plant a seed. Now other media outlets will follow up and do more digging and offer up money to those in the know to try and get the true story.

    • Yeah sorry your right but my point was Jack didn’t make the course the reason he didn’t win, my memory is abit off after a month in a coma. I’m trying to setup a new laptop and it’s not happening, I’ve had to admit defeat and get some help. My bad…
    • Yeah yeah but hey it gets better lol    USA have won 3 of the past 12 !!!!!   25% when I went to school, but you’ve conveniently forgot about that. Europe let you win so you keep coming back lol…
    • Lesson 9/25: Some bad things had crept into my swing, and I think I have the tools to fix them. Setup: I was setting up a little to close to the ball. Not sure what precipitated this, but as soon as instructor pointed it out, I stepped back maybe 1/2 to 1 ball and right away addressing the ball felt more comfortable. I've started fidgeting with my right hand grip at setup again, resulting in an overly strong right hand. This seems to happen when I stand over the ball too long, maybe because I am not committed to the swing. Worked on increasing grip pressure with this hand through backswing. I'll need to work on this. Backswing: Need to get a little more depth, but otherwise okay. Might have been I was focusing too much on downswing that I short changed backswing. Nothing major to work on right now. Downswing: Clubhead exit was too much up and out, and not enough left. Worked a bit with a PVC/pool noodle plane thing in front of the ball to get a feel for the clubhead exiting more around and left, and less up, after impact. Might pick up some PVC pipe, elbows, and a tee-fitting at a hardware store, or maybe order a Pure Plane Pro device for this. Everything in the downswing looked pretty good up until club delivery, where I was shoving/flipping my right hand pretty hard. Right before delivery, clubhead was in a good position, but I was still shoving/flipping it closed through impact. Tried out a feel/thought of holding the face open through impact. Initially instructor just had me try to hit the ball with an open face and hit a push-slice way right. Even though it felt like I was leaving the face wide open, the ball was not atrociously offline right. After a few balls of getting used to the concept, I backed off the feel a little bit and was hitting the ball pretty straight. It'll take some work to deprogram my right hand/arm for this one.
    • You are correct, Titleist has really upped the distance on last years TS models and even more so on this years.  The older ones always carried the moniker of being for people who were concerned with shot shaping over distance.  Now a days if you want to sell a driver, distance seems to be the number one concern and it’s good to see Titleist jumping on the bandwagon because they make nice looking driver heads
    • My understanding of "links" is that many people have a different set of criteria. I guess I agree that Chambers Bay and The Kingsley Club are not true links courses. When I hear the term it brings a vision of natural seaside dunes, sandy soil, fast, firm with weather often in play, and options to play the "ground game". Chambers was created by necessity; there is no sea or Great Lake near Kingsley; but both courses offer the same style of play along with most of the other features, and are a blast to play every round.
