Justin is a wannabee Yank too. He's lived here for a long time! So have many, many UK players!

I'm sure Rosie and Ricky can dish it back to Sir Nick.

Yeah, he loved the US so much that he sold up and moved to the Bahamas, presumably for even less taxes.

Ben Martin's wife is not at the British Open, and the reason will make you laugh.  From golfdigest.com. http://www.golfdigest.com/blogs/the-loop/2015/07/ben-martins-wife-is-not-at-the.html

It's not a pond, it's an ocean.

Every year The Open reminds me of what makes this game great and why I love it. It's for the same reasons my father loved it so much and why I was blessed enough to have him pass the game down to me.

So I wonder if Watson and Faldo got to pick one of their partners. Watson has always said Snedeker is like a younger version of him and we always hear Faldo praise Rosie.

You can bet Rickie hasn't had the choice. Tiger at Chambers Bay and Faldo here.

Poor Oosthuizen has gotten stuck with Tiger twice. Last two rounds with him though he's kicked his ass up one side and down the other.

“I’m so far back and the leaderboard is so bunched that in order for me to get in there by Sunday, I’m going to have to have the conditions tough and then obviously put together some really solid rounds,” Woods said. How about you worry about making the cut first and then you can look ahead to how you can get in there on Sunday.. I read you will be out there with 30-40 mph wind, good luck!

I see he's putting the cart before the horse.

I doubt he will make the cut.

Gotta love 'Zinger.... http://golfweek.com/news/2015/jul/16/tiger-woods-azinger-hack-british-open-golf-2015-st/ On a day where a score of golfers went low amid benign conditions at St. Andrews during the opening round of the 2015 British Open, Tiger Woods once again found himself looking for answers after a 4-over 76. Paul Azinger, who is working as an analyst for ESPN during its telecast of the year's third major, did not go easy on the 14-time major-winner when describing the state of his game. “It’s hard to watch the greatest player of this generation be a middle-of-the-pack hack,” said Azinger. “You almost want to say: ‘Who are you and what have you done to Tiger Woods?’" Azinger also commented on Woods' efforts to work on his swing. “Everyone wanted to swing like Tiger, except Tiger. ... Nobody needs to tell Tiger what to think. Somebody needs to remind him how to think. I think he’d be better off with a good conversation than another lesson.” Azinger, a 12-time winner on the PGA Tour and major champion in his own right, has been critical of Woods in the past. After Woods shot an 82 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in January, Azinger said Woods looked "confused." Woods finds himself near the bottom of the leaderboard and in danger of missing his second straight cut in a major championship after exiting early at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.

The Open is great for getting clips of flighted irons.

Here's a playlist:

Looks like Graham DeLaet's lost bag didn't affect him much. Good for him.

Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Kevin Na, and Luke Donald the only golfers to post bogey free rounds. Bunch of golfers with only one bogey, The Road Hole really got to people today.

He shot a +4 in ideal conditions, surely he can beat the field and jump up the leaderboard in a gale.

Azinger is spot on. Tiger deserves every bit of criticism thrown his way.

It's dead on, I agree, but it's not really even criticism, just an observation.  I doubt anybody out there, even the most diehard Tiger fans - hell ESPECIALLY the most diehard Tiger fans - would disagree with him.

PS - I also agree with you regarding SVP's comments that you posted in the other thread.

I saw that the scoring average of the Road Hole was 4.8 today. The entire tournament might come down to who manages to par that hole with the pressure on.

Keep an eye on Branden Grace if the wind gets up. Hits it super low and pretty far, averaged 315 today. One bogey, guess which hole?

I woke up at 5:30 today, saw Tiger hit one shot - a 140 yard approach from the fairway to an accessible pin - and end up with a 55 footer for birdie. His divot was about the size of a Nerf football. What's going on???????? He's tied with Tom Watson.

    • Thanks for your story. Seems like a realistic timeframe for me, too - as I read that in other posts as well. Maybe I am too optimistic to achieve that in only one year. I see. That's another factor which I will have to face. I broke 90 on my home course. I will probably get a reality check after I play more on other, perhaps more difficult courses. Thanks for your input! That is very interesting. I like the breakdown of what worked for you. My coach and I are working on a playbook for me and have set out specific goals to shave off strokes in particular areas of my weakness. Thanks for sharing your story.
    • I am just over 40 and I used to be quite athletic (2nd league pro in another sport). Besides my humble brag here, I feel the athletic stance and have the 4-5 hour cardio and mental focus - however my putting and driver technique cause me at around 10 extra strokes together. Yeah, I basically break 90 now: - OB driver shots, and barely over 200 yards - Above average iron shots (short and long) - making up for my driver; quite accurate and distances are by the book - 3-4 putts (messing up my score)
    • Thank you for the stats chart, that's worth gold! Yes, I have a golf coach and I keep a hand-written log in my scorebook. I am embarrassingly bad at putting (3-4) and my driver shot is not accurate and the distance is well below my age. However, my iron game is above average in terms of full swing mechanics, distance and accuracy - that was pretty much the only thing I practiced until I met my coach. The goal is to reduce by 5 putts in the short term. Thank you for your feedback. Yeah, Iooks like if I improve my putting and driving (among other aspects) to the same level as my iron skills I could be a more consistent 90s player. Come on! The putting struggle is real and tracked in my book.
    • Good luck! Let's ping each other by the end of the year again. I see that you that you also worked on your putting and short game. Good to have stretch-goals.  My golf coach guides me. Before I met him I practiced my iron game so much and completely neglected putting over that period. Genuinely, my iron game is quite accurate and the iron (short, long) distances I shoot are above average. However, I often end up doing 3-4 putts and my driver shot goes barely over 200 yards and is not accurate either. If I can shave some off those putts that could be 5-7 strokes right there.
    • Ugh. And I thought I was having a bad year.
