Good morning all!  I'm looking at getting practice round tickets to the Open at Oakmont Country Club.  What day would everyone recommend?  I've never been to a live tournament before, so I have no experience in choosing the best day to go.  Thanks for the help!!

On Tuesday players will do a lot of prep. Many take it easy on Wednesday. Go Thursday or Friday if you want to guarantee seeing the golfers you want to see. Thursday is usually a bit less crowded than Friday simply because many will take an extended weekend (and go on Friday).

Can't wait for this tournament.  Right in my neck of the woods!

Same here, sorta!  I'm originally from Lower Burrell and my whole family is still around the area!  I get to see the Open and visit family, it's a win-win for me!

So I should skip the practice round and do the first round?  I was under the impression that practice rounds would be better due to the players being a bit more relaxed.  I'm a newbie to the tournament spectator scene, so your recommendation is probably more correct than my impressions!

Practice rounds are pretty good. Not too crowded either. Players aren't terribly "relaxed" because there's a lot of work for a BIG tournament, but "more relaxed than in tournament rounds" yeah. The bigger issue is less crowds versus seeing actual competition. Some people like to see actual competitive rounds.

I already have two tickets for Thursday.  I want to see a competitive round and with all the players so I figured this would be the best day.

I went ahead and picked up 4 tickets for Thursday's round.  Thanks to everyone for their input and see you there!
