Hes not above the law but the law should either be a good law or no law at all. I can garuntee 500,000 USD would go alot farther towards their war efforts than one scrawny little asian dude

A law that allows people with money to opt out of civil service sounds pretty bad to me.

KICK THE FLIP!!

He should be allowed to buy himself out of it

Why is that? Is that your idea of how the world should work?

Should wealthy people be able to buy their way out of jail time too?

How can someone as young as you have such ideas?

What "war efforts"?

How is that term appropriate?

And I suppose you're right - they wouldn't want an asian in their army :loco:

You know you really do come across as ignorant, naive and bigoted when you talk about a lot of subjects.

It's fine to be  a dumbass at 17. It's not acceptable to sound like  an ignorant racist, bigoted 70 year old Republican.

Not fine to sound like an ignorant, intolerant dumbass at your age, which this and most of your posts point towards.

Please be more specific.

Most? Really?

I challenge you to list some of them.

Do my 579 skins really point to that?

Shorty, you know that you are a cantankerous old bully who rarely disagrees without an insult directed at your opponent; everyone here knows it but for some reason, it's considered endearing coming from you...it ain't. That shows your intolerance. Your ignorance is shown in the previous post where you equate Republicans with racism and bigotry and I recall some posts awhile back where you insisted Titelist doesn't have a quality assurance program in ball manufacturing because you once watched a documentary.

No - that's how you chose to interpret my saying something completely different.

I challenge you to quote what I actually said and then show that I said they had "no quality assurance program". I said nothing remotely similar.

And---guess what? If a 17 year old calls Bae sang moon a "scrawny Asian", thinks he should be ably to but his way out of military service and then indicates that he has no idea what goes on in North or South Korea, I'm happy to be called a bully. Just check out his recent post above. Are you sure you've backed the right horse?

Let's stick to the topic AND not worry about personal beefs with other people, okay?

See @boogielicious 's warning a few posts up.

Fine, but I believe I have the right to defend myself against untruths. . Here is what I wrote:

Balls are being spat out in the thousands. They inspect them randomly by eye - and then take out a random box and check them. The ones the top players get are inspected individually, but they are not selected as the best of the best. In other words, if 10000 dozen boxes get sent to the shops there might be a ball or two with a small blemish that we would notice but not worry about. The ones the top players get will each have been inspected. Not especially picked out, if you know what I mean.

What the **** does that have to do with this thread?

No, you don't have that right. Everyone can go look at what you posted if they actually care.

There are tens of thousands of Koreans who deserve skipping the army.  Young men who have real hardship when they have to go to army.   Bae?  Not so much.   He's already a multi-millionaire with fame to match.   Serving the country other than playing golf in US will teach him some humility.   He can very well come out of the army with stronger boy and mind.

Has nothing to do with being a nice young man or not. We no longer have the draft. There's a reason for that. I appreciate your knowledge of his situation, I wasn't aware. In our country we have entitled 20 somethings who feel their parents must pay for their college and they deserve a nice apartment and no dorms, kids who think they should be paid to go to school and Turtleback's gonna give a kid a hard time for hoping to avoid being thrown into the military?

All I can say is you would see it differently if you had served.

Also, makes me more proud to be an American....though we did have a draft at one point.

The idea of taking pride in the fact that a country ONLY sends its poorest and most disadvantaged off to fight seems perverse. Perhaps if the sons of the wealthy weren't able to avoid the draft (see Cheney, Bush, Wolfowitz etc for details) then the affluent and powerful might think twice about misguided military adventures abroad.

This reminds me of Cassius Clay refusing to be drafted.  Regardless how famous he was, and what kind of religious belief he had, the US government didn't make an exception.

Bae's exception request is for his personal gain, and frankly, one that shouldn't have been made in the 1st place.   As I have stated before, there have been many noteworthy Korean athletics who went to serve the military service knowing that a two year break may end their athletic career.   What makes Bae special compare to others?   None.
