The longest drive I ever had was 11 hours from New York to Tennesee with my college girlfriend's father!! Seemed like an enternity!!

LMFAO. Best post ever.

Mine was about 270, average about 240.

  • 4 weeks later...

264 yards on a 364 par 4 dog leg left. I hit it with a nice draw to the 100 yard marker. Chunked the approach, bladed the chip and two putted for a bogey (worst feeling in the world).

318 yards. Straight down wind, downhill landing area. Left 225 yards into a par 5. Smoked the three wood, then had a 30 foot putt lip out for what would have been my first eagle .

With lots of wind - 450 yards is my longest. It was blowing 40+ mph straight downwind on a par 5.

I've never had an all-out bomb shot like a couple people here have. I exceed 300 now and again, I think my longest was about 320-330 at Sedona Golf Club. I remember because I had just a good one on the hole before and I turned to my wife real sarcastically, "yeah, I think I'm gonna hit another one about 320 or so on this hole," and I actually did!

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

Don't feel bad, neither have any of them.

Remember the internet adds an automatic 50+ yds to every drive. Have a great day.

Speak for yourself.

My drives aren't all that long & have never stated they were. 220 is about my average & I have no reason to bs anyone on a website. Unfortunately I have yet to see anywhere near the number of people either on the range or at the course who are able to bomb drives the way some of the people here claim to. If you truly can...great for you, i'm sure you are happy. Have a fantastic night.

About 350. 6th hole, short par 5. Pushed it slightly to the right along a tree line, cleared the hill, and kicked down and left into the fairway. Must have hit a turtle or something on the way out there, because I didn't hit it that hard, but sure enough in the front of the marker, near the bottom of a hill, was my ball. Average 240 carry, with roll 260-270, sometimes 300 if it's dry.

I didn't say you said your drives were bombs. What I said was, you shouldn't claim other people are lying about their

career longest drives just because you've not seen that many people who cam bomb it. P.S. No, I am by no means a bomber (240-250 ave) but what most people are describing here ( myself included ) is freaks, one offs, ie; 20 mph tailwind with a downhill landing area etc... Not regular occurrances...

320 with my previous Callaway X460 driver. Not sure what I did different and not sure how much roll because I couldn't see where it landed. It was a fairly flat fairway though.

With my current (just added within the last month) HiBore XL driver, my longest is 300. That is with about 30 yards of roll down a gradual slope. I've been carrying this driver 270 on average and consistently much straighter than the X460. My mechanics are improving but the HiBore XL is also far more forgiving than the X460 was.

    • Of course. I've used different words to start, but like 90-95% of the time it's been this one. And I'm unlikely to switch now.
    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
