I doubt the number but 930 is still magnitudes less than those of civilian to civilian violent crimes and still a more than a magnitude smaller than homicides of civilian to civilian.

having trouble finding raw stats but it appears between 15 and 20 thousand people are killed yearly in the us. So 1/15 to 1/20th are killed by police officers. Not exactly magnitudes less.

14-15 K average from 2010 till 2013, 4.5 per 100,000 people.

Still you have to take into consideration the type of conditions cops are put into, especially with inner city violence.

Look at Detroit, 45 per 100,000 people. If you are a cop, working in Detroit. You are more likely to pull your gun and defend yourself than in other places.

There are parts in certain cities that gangs will actively kill a cop if they see one. If you are in that situation, you shoot first then ask questions second.

You just can't say cops are more violent than people. It's like looking at death rates for certain jobs. Crab Fisherman in Alaska have a high death rate. Well duh, have you seen the show deadliest catch. If they were crab fishing in the gulf they would be drinking pina colada's and enjoying the sun.

I am sure there are some small towns in the middle of no where that haven't seen a murder case in 50 years, and the past 5 elected sheriffs haven't had to pull their gun.

Huh? Magnitude is a factor of 10.

the fact staying alive after dealing with police officers is considered a triumph is the issue.

Seriously??? Seems like you have bought what the liberal media is selling.  That's a damn shame.

Enough of the liberal media, and I doubt they report that people of color are running for their lives from the police.

You see invdividual commentators talk about DWB, etc.

Social media has generated much of this issue in terms of making people aware of it, and then, bang, when it happens frequently in several states, it seems like it is occurring frequently.

I've seen conservative Texas papers voice concern over police behavior, and we all know, except for extreme liberal commentators, ahem like Al Sharpton, that most LEO perform their job admirably if not always friendly.

Cops breaking up drug rings and arresting rapists is their job!!! If it doesn't get reported well it is because they are doing their job!!! Also, when a cop does a heroic thing it is reported, start a thread about the story about and we can all talk about it, no one prevents you from posting.. Total BS or not, that's my perception like it or not.. Heck, the same day I read the story about the cop that shot the black guy because he wouldn't come out of his car.. I think you should start a thread on how media mistreats cops because this thread is about the crazy off duty cop who threatened to blow a hole in the guys head because he broke a traffic law.. And no he wasn't dealing with the worst of the worst..

Exactly! And how did that story end? You act like cops are the only party with responsibility. We as civilians have responsibility too. It's their job? Yeah no kidding. When a guy picks a fight with a cop and goes for his gun and gets killed, the media hammers the cop and cries for the multiple offenses, drug using stealing thug. What should be reported is what an idiot the civilian was. It's OUR RESPONSIBILITY to respect LEO and if you are in a bad situation it's YOUR responsibility to act like an adult and stay calm just as it is for the LEO. This video is the absolute example of this. Had that police officer did what he did in Southside Chicago...one or both of them would be dead. And even though the LEO was 100% assanine in this Video, the civilian came out fine because he acted responsibly and intelligently.

If you guys have no problem with the amount of deaths caused by policemen then i guess i have no further comment on this issue.

What I learned here is don't talk back to a police officer regardless of his character.

You seem to be portraying the people being shot by police as victims and heroes?

More than one is too much... social media has opened people's eyes to the issue.

Remember, this is mostly a conservative bunch ... so the perceived injustice varies on a scale  that ranges from Attila the Hun :-O to Al Sharpton... :-$

Sure, just remember that police are only human, and the last thing you want to do is to aggravate a man who can legally carry a gun. Just be or act friendly regardless of how you are feeling. Let the court decide later if the officer requires disciplinary action.

The outcome could have been a lot different if the driver was not threatening the officer with the dash camera.

Actually I think he was trying to help the cop by letting him know everything was being taped and the cop needed to calm down, first of all this was a traffic stop in the dark by an ununiformed police officer reaching for his gun before even identifying himself, I think the cop was damn lucky the driver didn't throw the car in D and run him over in self defense, cops shoot and kill people for much less than this. This whole video at the start looked like a road rage situation with some out of control guy in a wife beater cutting this guy off then getting out of his truck yelling threats of shooting this guy in the head before even reaching for his ID in the dark, totally unprofessional conduct on the part of the cop that could have gotten him killed. When the driver stopped backing you could see the cop pause in anticipation of the driver possibly running him over this tells me he knew he wasn't entirely sure the driver knew he was a cop.

You obviously have a strong opinion against police. It would be interesting to see the video of his actual traffic violation. I know those rotaries pretty well having navigated them many times this last trip. If you run them you would endanger a lot of people, and it's pretty obvious.

I didn't see the full story, why did the guy have a dash cam? And being that he did, why would he intentionally commit a traffic violation (dangerous as was stated) knowing he had a dash cam? Did the cop start chasing him prior to the violation of the rotary?
