Eat stuff that tastes terrible.

I'm eating this " Military Diet " modified for men, and the stuff I am eating tastes terrible. I've come to the conclusion that if you eat stuff that tastes crappy it will train your body to associate the terrible tastes with food. Then you will lose your appetite before getting hungry.

Good luck anyone who wants to lose weight, because this diet seems to work. It also makes you learn to hate food. :-P

I guess some people would say I'm on a diet but I like to think of it more of a lifestyle change. Here is a run down of my day. With the chicken and turkey burger(which is usually cheaper and healthier then regular burger) I do some Franks Buffalo sauce and Sauce is the boss BBQ.

Pretty much.

Neurologists have done studies showing that sugar activates pleasure areas in our brains similar to cocaine.

You have to look at the way processed foods are designed for us. If you have low fat foods what do they add more of, sugar. Fat + Carbs is a very appetizing thing. Look at skim milk versus whole milk. Skim milk is basically bad tasting sugar water. You add in the dairy fat and it becomes very tasty.

That is a reasonable diet actually. If I can sneak in a few spoons (really, 5-6 is all I eat at a time) of ice cream on most days, I can survive on the rest. The banana allowance is nice too!

Coffee with a bit of cream and sugar (2 cups) might be the only cheat I am not sure I can give up.

Black coffee is best way to not cheat on a diet in my opinion. Suppresses your appetite and is only a few calories. You can give up the cream and sugar its just like drinking beer you will get a taste for it.

I noticed this as well. That's probably why it's in that "Military Diet". . .

It also makes you learn to hate food.

I'm going to be "that guy" here and just say it: that sounds terrible :-P

You aren't the only one that thinks that, the only difference is you have no need to subject yourself to it. :-P

Really amazing how much you can eat if you make smart choices. With food knowledge is power. I make huge low cal meals that don't leave me wanting more. How much and how many calories hard to judge by the eye if you don't know what is what. Even with proteins there are low cal choices. Where I see people wasting calories is condiments, snacks and drinks. And people do dumb shit like drinking a 300 calorie supposedly healthy protein shake after spending 45 minutes at the gym burning 250 calories. When I am cutting cals to lose weight my meals are significantly larger than say a double whopper combo. No reason to starve.

Agree, I noticed that even with the chopped salad from Subway with Turkey breast is very filling, but only 110 calories. . .

I make epic salads. When I pack my lunch my typical 250ish cal salad fills a 3 qt. storage container. I like to grill a bunch of lean meats on Sunday and use it through the week for salad protein. When I am lazy I order tripe extra tripe medium pho' with half noodles for lunch and use just half with the veggies. Sodium blast but tripe is just 80 cal for 3 oz. Despite my Italian heritage I eat more Asian food than most Asians.

Assuming your body is working correctly, the only sure fire way to lose weight (fat) is to burn more calories than you consume.  Burn 3500 calories without consuming any, and you will most likely lose 1 pound of fat. Eat 1000 calorie meal, and you probably have to burn 4500 calories to lose that same 1 pound of fat. To stay at a desired weight, you burn, and consume the same amount of calories.

So, if I want to lose this extra 20 pounds of fat I am carrying around, I would have to burn 70,000 more calories, than I consume,  over a period of time.

Third week. Lost about 6 pounds so far.

I've substituted the lunch with a chopped salad from Subway. Turkey is 110 + 35 honey mustard dressing + 60 crouton for 205 total. Meatball is 540 for 8 meatballs and 285 for 4 meatballs with marinara sauce over the salad. Going to try the double chicken with a Thai peanut sauce today with supposedly 220 + 50 calories with the peanut sauce.

In between snacks are now celery and some carrot 5:1 ratio. I eat up to 2 per day before dinner.

The next 4 days I can eat regular stuff, but it is interesting that I don't really feel the urge to eat all that much.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
