That is kind of curious. On the one hand you are an East Coaster, but your loyalties fall with the right group.

And I'm apparently an East Coaster when it comes to avatar, haha.

I wasn't sure if he was going to merge both of them together or something like that. :-D

I know that the deadline has passed from the rules page but I have it on good authority that there is still time to get your entry in to get a new Ping Driver. All of the Newport Cuppers (except me, stuck at work) are at the Ping facility getting a tour probably watching your driver get made.

Don't miss out on a great chance to win a driver. This contest is really anyone's game. Nobody knows who the winning team and MVP will be so get your entry in. You have as good a chance as anyone already entered. It will get locked later tonight.

Good luck.

@mvmac and I will check in later but nobody predicted a tie as far as we can see.

After much discussion we've decided that since that since no one predicted a tie it would be unfair for us to pick a winner from the entries, so we're awarding the driver to @RandallT for his excellent work in the 2015 Newport Cup Matches .

@nevets88 will be getting Mission belt with the Newport Cup logo on it for his help embedding the tweets in the same thread.

Congrats, Randy.   A good guy won. @Golfingdad , I and others who picked you for the MVP forgive you.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I was pretty down on myself after Thursday, particularly Thursday afternoon where I played like a 36 handicapper, but luckily I turned it around after that. :) Now we all get to think back to that one shot or one hole or one putt, were it just have to been a little better, my team would have won! Woulda coulda shoulda. :/

@Golfingdad be honest and admit that playing with me In our Friday afternoon round turned it around for you. You know it's true.

Ask anybody ... I've already said it quite a few times. The mojo I got from you is what turned it around for me for yesterday and that carried over into today!!!

I played a lot better too after he shelled Hunter and me. Mike just has that effect on people.

Awww shucks! I'm ever so humbly touched.

I also think you're secretly trying to shut me up so that I don't try to do a strokes gained analysis for the Newport Cup!

Funny thing is that when @iacas and I discussed a scoreboard briefly last week (or this week?), it was just a modest little idea to do a summary once or twice a day. Then I made a couple updates.

Then I thought it was fun. Then I started getting decent feedback that people enjoyed it.

Then I started getting hooked on the competition itself. Then I realized I was getting obsessed.

Then my wife said I was nuts. Then my kids and friends were screaming for attention as the final group was finishing 18.

It was truly a blast trying to watch the puzzle pieces fit together. I'm sure the ending must've seemed nuts to you all there in Phoenix, trying to figure out how the points would fall. From afar on a spreadsheet is one thing, but live on the course, while you're trying to cheer on your team... I don't know how you kept your wits about you, and could know what each shot or hole meant. It happens quickly down the stretch, and things could've gone either way with one swing of the club. I was just hoping I wasn't intruding on your competition there (that was my big worry)!

Anyway, when it started I had no idea how amazing the competition would be, or that it would be so momentously dramatic down the stretch. It was just a fun little project. It all fell together.

Thanks to the captains and players for delivering the goods. Hope you all had a great time. It sure seemed like a great success, and I was happy to play a small part in a memorable event.

Most of all, thanks for the driver. Let's hope my Evolvr lessons can put it to good use.

Everyone at the event appreciated your effort. We knew the last day not to look at the scoreboard so it was never a distraction. It was really great to have you tracking the scoring as it went along, now it looks like a complete record of what went on in each match which is great to look back on.

Good to hear.

I just found a cool trick to relive it frame by frame sort of. You may know this, but when you click the View All Images thing on the right, you can pick any of the "Scorecard" images you see... then there's a link to View All Images by RandallT in this thread .  Since I pretty much only submitted scorecard images to that thread,  you can start at the beginning and arrow your way through the whole tournament looking at each image, one by one.

Watch it unfold point by point. The date stamps are in a white font usually somewhere in the header block, even though I may have forgotten to update it.

OT and more applicable for that thread: There's a point on Day 2 where it's 20-12, I think.... possible turning point at the close of Day 2.  I just noticed that by using the technique above.

Awesome! Well deserved for both guys. I said it in the other thread, but it's worth repeating: thank you @RandallT and @nevets88 for making the Newport Cup so easy to follow. I've been away all weekend and felt like I never missed a single moment of the action.
