I thought Tiger's performance showed some solid improvement but Sunday's round showed there is still much to do - probably a good portion of it mental.  The "old" Tiger Woods always came out strong on Sunday.  Another thing - I think he needs to give up the red and black on Sundays.  He's been doing it forever . .it's not as cool as it used to be when he's in contention and it seems really out of whack when he's T40 or something.

Other than that, I thought the tournament was kind of ho-hum.  Good for Davis Love III, of course.  I don't know exactly why but the age thing doesn't impress me *that* much.  Maybe there aren't that many 50+ year old winners but a lot of guys do well at pga events during their first year or 2 on the Champions tour.  This was a field where many of the best and longest drivers were not present and that's probably the biggest handicap of age.

Just calling a spade a spade... I'll bet your retirement check more than half your tee chummmmps have f'd around on their wives at one point or another... Child like hardly. Realist yes,,, Tig

I called it, Tiger to double bogey and take himself out of contention (via text of course)

Learning so much on this site. Tiger just had 153 uphill to the green and he had a 9 iron in his hands. I thought "he's going to flight it" and he did.

I think Eldrick looked great in red and black... just like MJ wearing his road uni.  That's his trademark.  I know Fatrick Reed started wearing to honor him, but only Eldrick should be wearing that outfit really (trademark it somehow for Sundays???)

He played 71 great holes basically (no doubles all tournament)... just try to forget #11 and give it another whirl at the Frys.com Open.

Are you in 5th grade? If not, you can actually comment without the childish names. Try it once and a while.

Tiger winning today would have been good for golf,

Tiger just being in the hunt over the weekend was good for golf. But the chipping woes makes it an even bigger story because who knows how it will affect him going forward? Tiger looked stressed to me over the weekend, maybe because of lurking concerns about his game. I think the birdies down the stretch were more a function of the pressure being off and he just let it flow. He's gotta work on having that mindset all the time, like when he was on top of his game

few,  if any care that DL3 won.  I don't have anything against DL3, just would have preferred any of the other top contenders won over him.

Really? Not that I can see among people that I know. Very popular win, IMO.

Eldrick is his real name, so I don't think there's anything wrong with that.  I could've done without the Fatrick part, yeah, but he is overweight.  A lot of people used to call Phil "Hefty" instead of "Lefty" for a while when he got a little too plump, and I didn't hear anyone complaining about that too much.

I was a huuuuge DL3 fan before Tiger came along. When he won the 2003 Players with a 64 in the rainy, windy final round playing with Fred Couples remains one of my favorite golf moments.

I'm personally totally stoked he won. Ive been in the desert all weekend and am bummed I missed it.

Amen.  I'll always root for the old guys when they are competing.  Davis Love has been one of "my guys" for nearly 30 years, and a popular player among the fans.

When he first came on Tour, he was so long that he didn't even use a driver (he struggled early on with the driver and used a 1 iron in most places where others used driver).  He was pretty much longer that anyone who came before him (and still holds the record for the second longest drive ever hit on Tour, 476 yards at the 2004 Mercedes).  He actually worked to dial it back a bit to gain more control.

In other news, Kaymer came to Wyndham hoping to qualify for the playoffs, but did not succeed and consequently lost his tour card for the 15-16 season because he didn't meet the requirement of 15 events played.

That's too bad. When he is on, he is a terrific player.

We know it's his real name, and yet you use it just to demean him the same way using Fatrick or Hefty would, so stop it. It's unpleasant and doesn't add to the conversation.

I wanted Davis Love III to win if it wasn't going to happen for Tiger, but once all the comments came out about what Gore had been through and what a nice guy he is, I kinda wanted him to drain that putt on 18.

He missed by what, 3 inches! It was close. He definitely played well enough to win. It is such a fine line at the top with these guys. Blixt missed a few putts by a blade of grass too.

It was a really impressive putt under the circumstances. That was green gave a number of players fits all week. I'm just glad he apparently went from 166 to 98th in the Fedex Cup standings, so he keeps his card

I agree, Gore seems like a great guy.  I wanted to see Tiger or someone like Gore win the Wyndham to make it into the FedEx playoffs, DL3 was in it without the win.

I didn't watch golf prior to Tiger so maybe that's why I'm not a fan of DL3.   As I said, it's not that I dislike him, just was rooting for others that could have gotten into the playoffs.

How does saying "Eldrick looked great in red and black" demeaning to him and his real name?  Yeah, I said Fatrick afterwards in the same paragraph (and then said I probably shouldn't have), but I'm not a fan of Patrick Reed.

Ask anyone I talk to about golf, and I always use the name Eldrick, and they know I don't say it to demean him.  You people on here don't know me and are just rushing to judgements, based on how Eldrick has been used on this board.  Newsflash: this board isn't the say-all and end-all of golf.

Thats crazy considering hes won the players and the US Open to not keep his card.

So what is the point of using Eldrick? Think you are too cool or refuse to call him by a nickname? I don't get it. It is not like I haven't seen people jack with names on here other times though, but to purposely type "Eldrick" each time still comes across malicious. I guess you can do what you want but I don't see the humor after the the first few times

Like I stated before, I feel like more of a fan knowing his real name, whereby a majority of people don't.  I can call him Tiger too.

I don't get mad when people call me by my real name, instead of a nickname which is what I used for most of my life.  The statement I've heard for me personally is that people grow out of nicknames too when they get older, so maybe that should apply to Tiger as well?  I know people refused to call Larry Jones "Chipper" as he got older.

    • A better way to say it would be using the leg to push the hip, here's a video of what I mean he's referring to the downswing but am I right in saying for the backswing should you do something similar, where you use your leg to push the hip rather than just trying to get the hip to turn clockwise
    • Day 3: COVID-19 day 6 and 7 drills again. Then downswing priority piece work with 7-iron, not much, just 10 balls.
    • Day 69, August 2, 2021 More work on shortening my backswing. I don’t want to even get to hands to right shoulder… at least feeling like that.
    • I'm sure if you look at about two years ago on this site, I mentioned somewhere that after having my first ever sub-80 round (a nice 77 in a tournament!), I failed to break 90 for I think two months.  These things happen. Can't hit an iron?  What's the longest swing you can make with your PW and hit a good result?  If the answer is a chip, go hit some chips and, after some good ones, expand into pitches.  Similar with pitches into 3/4 shots, etc.   This is very likely something you can work out by going back to what you do well.
