Whats the strangest thing you have ever seen on a golf course?

People getting their freak on right on a fairway during a college party on a small 9 hole course on campus, a guy i was playing with skulled a shot into a pelicans leg, broke the leg for sure, can only imagine how long the poor thing suffered for, a huge, and I mean huge, turtle right on the fairway of another local course, thing looked exactly like a sea turtle given the size.

Once upon a time, I saw a guy on the driving range at our private club. He found a brand new white ProV among the yellow-striped range balls. He slipped it into his bag . . . and nobody cared.

Funny :) There once was a guy that would complain on the putting green about people making practice swings in the fairway 150 yards behind him.

Hit my ball to about 10' from an alligator while playing in Myrtle Beach.  We had to hit across the water and my ball just missed hitting him but he didn't move.  For you guys down south I'm sure this isn't so strange but we don't see many alligators on the course in NY.

I think it was Bobcat ... seen lots of critters, but I think the bobcat was the rarest.

I was out playing a round with my wife a few years ago and it was around dusk. I was getting ready to hit my shot on a short uphill par 3 and was trying to find the pin when I realized there was a huge dark mass on the green. It ended up being a huge bull moose on the green and we ended up skipping the hole as he wasn't moving and I wasn't going to wait it out. It's not uncommon to see moose on our local course but that's a first I've had to skip a hole due to one.

I was playing a local course that was adjacent to a model airplane field. Some ahole thought it would be funny to buzz us on the course. He did it several times, but the last time he misjudged when to pull up and his plane did a full node dive into the rough next to the green. We started hooting. We hung around a few minutes to see if anybody would claim the wreck.. Nobody showed. It was a pretty nice plane. In retrospect, I should have stomped on it.

On the 16th green of my local course, my son and I noticed a buzzing sound.  We soon saw a drone (quad copter) hovering about 30 feet overhead.  It followed us from the green of 16 to the tee box at 17 and then disappeared.  A little unnerving as we couldn't see anyone within eyesight of us at the time.

On the 16th green of my local course, my son and I noticed a buzzing sound.  We soon saw a drone (quad copter) hovering about 30 feet overhead.  It followed us from the green of 16 to the tee box at 17 and then disappeared.  A little unnerving as we couldn't see anyone within eyesight of us at the time.

I went back up to Pa last October to visit some family and managed to sneak in 9 at one of my old regular courses.  I saw a flock of turkeys roaming one of the fairways.  Definitely different wildlife between the North and South!

People, and wildlife have supplied some strange viewing for me. I once hit a Bison/Buffalo (?)  up in Wyoming that was standing in the fairway. The local I was with said  go a head and swing,that the critter was always out there. Ball hit him on the fly on the shoulder. Just a little flinch while he kept grazing. As we got closer to him with the cart he moved off far enough for me to hit my ball. I've seen lots of snakes on the desert courses I play. I saw what appeared to be large, domesticated dogs laying in the shaded fairway at the Furnace Creek golf course. Turned out they were large coyotes lounging around. I played at a course near Disneyland, that the first sign you saw, was a disclaimer about cancer causing material being in the ground the course was built on.

People are the more entertaining of the two. Seen naked joggers in SoCal. Some of the golf swings I have seen, have been brutally funny. Others were a fine thing to watch. Some of the club throwing, tirades have been decent. Carts tipped over, or in ponds.  Serious, not funny  stuff too.  I've seen so much in my golf travels. This thread now has me thinking about them.

I was playing the 17th hole with my friend.  Along comes a cart with a man with his shirt off.  It is Tiger Woods.  He says, "would you mind if I play with you"?  We say sure. He played the last 2 holes. We talked about women.

Patch just reminded me, saw a golf cart stuck in the mud next to the bank of some water.  The back tires were almost completely dug in.  The unbelievable part is the stupidity it must have taken to think they could get the cart that close to the water out here in FL with all the rain we have had, on the steep incline/decline.  It was a gulley running along the RHS of one of the holes we played dividing the course from homes.  We teed off and hit one over there and never once thought about bringing it in that close to look for the balls, golf carts are not 4X4s the last time I checked but apparently these persons must have thought otherwise.  Golf course is so lax (Lansbrook) that I doubt they even went and told them, probably picked their gear off and either left or just put it on another cart and went back out.

Old boy in a buggy (you guys call them carts, right?) in front of us one time and he goes charging towards 2 big but fairly "flat" trees up in the middle of the hole (long, blind 215 yard par 3) to where he'd hit his ball. He obviously thought he fit under the 2 trees but the lowest branches (big fat ones) caught the underside of the buggy roof and basically ripped the roof off, whilst also almost nearly rolling the whole buggy over backwards on top of him!

It seemed pretty obvious you wouldn't fit under the trees so was fairly astonishing that he attempted it, only to basically total the buggy. He might as well have just driven it straight into the tree?
