What'd You Shoot Today?

I did ok, 78 (+6). Finished the front nine with an irritating birdie-bogie-birdie-bogie. Only one horrid hole (par-4). Drove the ball to the neighbouring fairway. Tried to hit a miracle-shot over some trees and water. Lucky the trees stopped the ball. Played my third safely to the fairway. Fourth: a pitch from 60yds to about 6ft and saved bogie.

The positives: putted for eagle twice (from the fringe). Also, 31 putts total - fairly good for me. My trusty 3-iron was on fire.

The negatives: chips and pitches were horrible. Only made one par save out of nine times when failed to hit GIR. Also need to work on my distance control (the reason for the low GIR).

My Aerolite bag contains:

VR Tour Driver Project X 5.5
904F 17* 4-wood Sabre Stiff
MP68 3-PW Project X 6.0
52* Vokey Spin Milled -wedge

Redwood ZB

I prefer a ball, but may occasionally hit almost anything.

Stone Creek golf course in Oregon City, OR, it plays 6,525 yards from the Blue tees (71.4 / 127), with some really blind tee shots / landing areas on the back 9. Shot 39 (2 birdies) / 41. Gave myself a 15ft. birdie putt on the last hole that would've given me a 79, but I missed it just left of the hole. Still, I finished with 5 straight pars and a shot at birdie on the last, when I knew the number I needed to shoot 79.

I Also decided to 'embrace' the pressure a bit and told my playing partner what I needed to shoot. To add to a bit of pressure, on the last hole, I hit a decent drive (250yds, but no roll, actually bounced back a yard, most were rolling out a bit). Had another 255yds to the green, decide to layup. Chunk my layup and it only goes about 75yds down the fairway. I'm now even with my playing partner who played from the white tees (40yds closer) and hit a great drive. We're waiting for green to clear as we are about 180yds out. It's a blind landing area and I hear tee shots behind us. The 3-some started teeing off and from the white tees they were landing even with us. They come up on carts before the 4-some in front were off the green. They were nice and apologized and were sitting in their cart with us as we were hitting our next shots. The pin was in the back and one of them commented on it being 209 to the back (via his GPS). I told him, "well, I need to get it back to the pin, to try and make birdie to shoot 79". I then hit a good 4-iron that hit just short of the green and rolled to pin high, 15ft left of the pin.

Yes, I missed the birdie putt, but pulled off the shot from the fairway to give myself a chance, which was cool!

shot an 86 yesterday...
tore up the front... pace of play was quick... rhythm was great... shots were going straight...
absolutely flubbed the back... hit the seniors league road block on #11... hooked up with a playing partner and just started chunking and pulling...
it also didnt help that i ran out of gas the longer the round went on... stomach was growling something fierce... forgot to bring snacks and didnt stop at the turn
RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

43. The greens were painfully slow, and not taken care of at all. A kid on my high school team who has played TPC River Highlands said that the greens here were like TPC's fairway. The fairways were crap, too.

After 2 months at the driving range, this morning was my first time on the course and I shot 98. I made 4 pars, 3 of them on the last 3 holes. I wasn't keeping a running count of my score which probably helped. If I had known I needed to play the last 3 holes at +1 to break 100, I'm sure I would have choked. Granted, it was only a 5000 yard par 69 course, but I'm still pleased, and mildly addicted!

Shot a 44 through nine holes today. I will gladly take that considering the weather I was playing in. Heavy rain and gusty winds the whole started up right as we finished the first hole... go figure.

FINALLY broke 80!!!! Shot 78(39/39) today...played exceptionally faster than usual also. Can't decide if playing a bit quicker helped me or if I would've shot the same had I played slower. Nevertheless, I'm ecstatic.

87 (44/43)
Felt like i played better on the front nine but scored better on the back 9.
Got 1 birdie and heaps of double bogeys

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

    • @boogielicious and I are definitely in for the Stay & Play and will need the extra night's stay on Friday. I don't know what the plans are for our group on Friday but even if we don't make it for dinner with the rest of the Friday arrivals, I'll be more than happy to meet up somewhere for a beer or something.
    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
    • Wish I could have spent 5 minutes in the middle of the morning round to hit some balls at the range. Just did much more of right side through with keeping the shoulders feeling level (not dipping), and I was flushing them. Lol. Maybe too much focus on hands stuff while playing.
