What'd You Shoot Today?

Had a fairly good front 9(for me), shooting 45. I had 17 putts, two 3 putts(UGH!), four 1 putts, 3 double bogeys and played the same ball the entire round. I leaked off the tee quite a bit but had good contact with the irons, which is my main goal. I was pleased.

Back 9 was a different story. I shot 56, lost 4 balls, had a 10 on hole, had a triple bogey, 22 putts and my contact went to shit.

I was in a good mood after 9, now not so much.

Played my first tournament of the year today....pin placements were diabolical......shot 77 with a QUAD on the 7th hole....golf is a stupid, stupid game, and that's why I love it

Since my last post I have played 2 nine hole rounds. 49 and 45. Big D is killing me off the tee. Like I have said before, I'm stubborn as hell, but I'm crying uncle. I may take the Driver and 3W out for a round or two and see how it goes.

I played a nine hole course and left after seven holes because I had lost so many golf balls. I let two others go in front of me because I was so frustrated with the way I played. This course was way beyond my limited abilities.

Played 18 holes on Saturday morning, ending with a 92 on a par 72 course. I was pleased with that for now. Played the ball according to all of the rules I'm aware of, such as playing an OB tee shot as the 4th shot. Glad there was only one of those to worry about! I had been watching a lot of the Golf channel lately as well as picking up more tips from this site and applied them to my game. Made lots of progress. Now, if I can just get very consistent.

Shot 84 today, couldn't putt worth a darn. It's hard to get used to Arizona greens, they're much faster than Missouri.

Yesterday shot 105, 27 holes. 69 on the first 18 then a parred the last 9 holes. Rained pretty much the whole time but I hit it great and it was a lot of fun playing with my dad.

Shot 87 today. Very frustrating day all around. For the past 2 years, I've been battling a pretty bad hook. Just couldn't get it straightened out. Finally, something kicked in at the range last night. Went out this afternoon and hit the ball pretty straight off the tee. I just couldn't get my alignment right to put the ball where I wanted to. Really had to focus on that. My irons, which are normally my strong game had a pretty good draw to a hook. I think I was flipping the head at impact, which is something I normally don't do. Didn't putt very well either. So, not a good day, except that I did get to play golf.

86! I was 1 over after 8 holes..then I had a triple bogey on 9, and then things just got worse. They just done some work to the greens so putting was a bit of a challenge but I was happy with my final score.

    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.
    • Wordle 1,013 2/6 🟨⬜⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Thought I was gonna be a big shot today...  🙂    Nice Job!
    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
