What'd You Shoot Today?

Sloppy 85 on a pretty easy, short course.  Would have been a lot worse but finally found my swing on 14.  Finished that hole in "par" after first drive OB, then went par, par, birdie, birdie.  The par on 15 was my first of the day!  Ouch.  The birdie putts were 4' and 18".  Yummy.  Of course the good holes were the last ones, because now I can't wait to get back out there.

I had my club championships and played very well I started with a 77 which put me in the lead for a short while at -3 then somebody came in with a nett -6 so I was four back but in the second round I kept calm and shot a 76 to get  to -7 and the rest of the field fell away so I won the nett club champs at the age of 14 :)

Broke 100 for the first time with 98. Got 47 points and lowered my HCP from 32,6 til 27,0 . Borrowed a driver from a friend, with that one i hit fairways and stayed out of most hazards, OB and bunkers (my own driver is from 1995). My Irons felt ok, but not good. My close game is improving and my putting was more 2's than 3's. So i wasn't playing perfect and I lacked nice feeling shots. But the reason I ducked under 100 was that i kept the ball in play. So i didn't need to hunt or play risky to save hcp-par. It's getting better and starting to know my clubs more (third time playing with them and first time with the driver). And the sun was shinig, all in all a good day at the course.

Awful. Just genuinely bad. I stopped keeping track after a 45 on the front. I came around on the back, but it still wasn't beautiful at all. Without a score, I'd estimate probably a 40-42. The course was in horrendous shape. The tee boxes had knee high grass in places, the fairway was so unkempt I actually lost balls in them, and the bunkers were packed and had grass growing in them. For $33 a round, I would expect more from a course. All said and done, even a bad day golfing is better than most other things.

In the words of Daniel Bryan....YES!!!YES!!!!YES!!! Finally broke 80 with a 79!!! The only clubs I used were Driver, 3 hybrid, 9 iron, pitching wedge & sand wedge. Extremely happy with the way I had been playing this year!! :)

80 yesterday. Been struggling with my swing and was +8 after 10 but I started hitting safe fades and cuts off the tee and grinding. Carded 8 straight pars to close out the round. Swing is a little off right now but good to know I can grind out a score when not at my best.

43, +8 (32.6/118). I went back to my driver and did well with it. I had two poor drives and the one on #7 was just a shank, would have happened with the 3w just as easily. My doubles/triple were the result of a penalty, a poor layup that required a punch out, and the shank coupled by a 3-putt. That's the difference between a 43 and a sub-40. Ah well, it's coming soon enough. :-)

3 over 39 today with only 4 greens and GIR, no birdies and never really had much of a chance. but good round because I wasn't slicing finally

After a bad tee shot it does not mean the hole is over, it means you have an opportunity to show what you are made of!

42 today (6 over) I had some trouble starting out and could not hit it straight and lost 2 balls. but also had two birdies to help out.

78.  I missed a lot of makeable birdie putts on the front 9.

Then started to get too mechanical with my swing on the back 9.

I was getting frustrated as I was in a 3-some - the 2nd group off in the AM - and we played behind a 5-some the entire day.

A round that should've been wrapped up by 9... Took us until 10 to finish.

Shot 42 (+6, 33.5/125). Started off ugly but managed to turn it around. My birdie on 14 was from about 50 feet, so much for just trying to get it within 3 feet. :-) Like yesterday, another day of a few really stupid mistakes. A shanked tee shot, an awful chip on 2, and a poor showing on 15. Still kind of shocked I managed a 42 given the mistakes.

82 front 42 back 40

par 72 rate 72.6 slope 135 yards 6529

putts 33

fairways 8/14

GIR 8

Feel so close to scoring in the 70's consistent just a few too many 3 putts (three of those) and doubles (two of those) and the three putts and doubles didn't even happen on the same holes, that's 5 strokes lost that would have taken me to 77. Well my golf vacation is almost over work starts back up again in august.

Shot 96 and while that's right within my HC, I feel pretty good about it because I fought my driver & putter all day but gutted it out. I also missed my first hole in one by 4 inches!

my get up and go musta got up and went..

    • Of course. I've used different words to start, but like 90-95% of the time it's been this one. And I'm unlikely to switch now.
    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
