Saturday, Miami Shores Golf Course, Troy, OH, Whites, CR: 66.8 50-47-97 My struggles continue. Obviously this isn't a very hard course and this score really sucks even for my standards. I'm probably 5-7 strokes over what I was doing just a few months ago. I've been telling myself that this is a growing pain related to swing changes. I'm lengthening my swing (focusing on more shoulder turn and leveraging my legs) and when I get it right I'm hitting balls further than ever before. When I get it wrong its pure disaster. A couple snowmen disgraced the score card here after massive mishits. It's also a bit confounding how crappy my short game has become recently. Again, I really need more work on the range and we'll see if there is some light at the end of the tunnel by the year-end.

41 last night. Played 9 with the folks at their club. It's a tough private course so not too shabby for me. Really played better than that. Two of the bogeys the result of over-hitting the green from GW range. The rough there is nasty so getting up and down tough. But the birdie was my 5th in two days so doing something right. 5 pars 1 birdie 3 bogeys 1 double-penalty

Probably played my best this season. The scoring could have been much better as I missed a couple of easy putts and I made a triple bogey on one par 4 when I was about 50 feet from the hole in 2. Very happy with my wedge play lately.

Have not had a complete round in over three weeks.   Three weeks ago the game was cancelled due to very bad weather. Last two Saturday games have been rained out after 11 holes then after 14 holes. The course was closed both days after the mid morning rain.    We have had over 20" in the last 18 days.......Last Tuesday's Game was cancelled ad the course was closed...You could tee off on the Par 3 #8 hole but you could not get to the green!

Life is miserable right now if you live in the Tampa Bay area.!

Shot a 79, 72.9 rating, 136 slope, 5.0 differential 8 pars 7 bogies 2 birdies 1 double Played pretty well for not playing golf in 5 days and playing on Bermuda. I hate this grass. I get to many fluffy lies. A lot of short game shots tend to come out too hot.

I shot a 44 on a Par 29 nine hole course. It was only the fourth or fifth time I've ever played golf.

I had two rounds before this one where I shot 43 but they were completely different. This nine hole course is 1500 yards. Only two Par 4s. It is so short. The first few rounds I played it wasn't a problem because I didn't have any ability to get any distance with my irons. I could hit my PW or my 7 iron (anything below that was impossible) and they would both go about 80-100 yards. When I first played I would hit a 4 hybrid off the Par 4s and a 9I or PW off the Par 3s and I was always short and it left me with a reasonable chip on and putt. Now that I am using my lower half more and able to get some separation between my clubs I was over hitting virtually every green today. I also have lost all ability to chip onto the green successfully. The first few times I ever played I was chipping within five feet of the cup and now I chip over to the other side.

What I don't understand is the course rating of 43....I have searched the forums and the internet and looked up a bunch of different things on course/slope rating but I can not find how it is handled in regards to a nine hole course. This course is a Par 29 but the rating is a 43. From everything I've read the rating is what a scratch golfer would shoot so I'm assuming that means that it's out of 18 holes? I know that considering the course I'm playing this is all pretty irrelevant but I would like to have an understand of it at least. Par 29 would mean 58 over 18 holes but the rating being 43 means that a scratch should be playing roughly 15 under par?

Shot a very uneven 90 today on a new (to me) course. Started with a very shaky first 9, 3 "blowup" holes (2bogey or worse) only 1 bogey, 4 pars and a birdie. Couldn't hit a wood straight if my life depended on it :/ only 1/7 fairway hits. +8 (44) Second 9 was more even but not better. Still couldn't hit a wood (though I was still stupid enough to try) 5/7 fairway hits, most due to dumb luck. 8 bogies and a double. +10 (46) Putted well though, only 27 putts, including a 3 putt. Holed quite a few 10 footers. Have changed my putting style completely lately, so happy that it's working (at least today hehe) Pretty sure I could have a much better round on that course (quite a hard one) if my wood game worked!

Very nice course and in great condition yesterday - prefect weather too.  A lot of vertical changes and odd looks in this layout - not for beginners.  Getting up and down saved me from mediocrity.  Had a blast.  Only second time I played it.  Good looks at birdie on about 6 holes and really should have gotten at least 2 of them that were better than "good looks" - but not this time.  A couple par 4's had the yardages pulled in to something reachable - couldn't convert those either though.  Good day.

Gotta get my drive straightened back out like a couple weeks ago.  I'm a bit 'army golf' lately.

47-46 93 the last time I played. I made 7 pars and kept the ball on the golf course the majority of the time, so that was good. Going out again tomorrow to see if I can do better.

    • I always get adds for "Find your Eastern European Soulmate" I think it's a nifty gadget to have at home. If your going to do a dedicated putting session I could see setting it up. Thanks for sharing.
    • Here's the bet. Assuming the pursuit of a Tour card holds, who wins their first Tour event? Charlie, or this Russell kid? Bet is off if Miles Russell signs with LIV.
    • It seems like too much work for me. I'm actually surprised at myself for spending as much time on this as I already have. Shot Scope tells me my shots to finish with a 7i is 0.1 better than with my 50 or 55 so I'm just going to go with it. Actually, I tend to be the complete opposite. I've never faced a shot I'm convinced I can't hit. It leads to great heroics and complete flops. Conservative for me might just be someone else's normal.
    • Tell me you've not seen Bill play without telling me you've not seen Bill play? 😄 Just teasing @billchao. 😄
    • And like Matt said, and I have hinted at… it's ONE ROUND. Because you have to get hot. Better players than him failed to get through. And… Peaked too soon, perhaps. He could also get injured, get surpassed, lose interest or lose his game… Again, if I trusted y'all to uphold the bet, and if the bet wasn't basically a 15-year proposition… I'd bet y'all. The odds are against him, and heavily so. So… he didn't qualify, and he's playing on a sponsor's exemption. Jordan Spieth was 16 years old when he tied for 16th in a PGA Tour event… and I realize that mentioning Jordan Spieth (who has obviously had a lot of success) seems to argue against my point, but Spieth is the exception and he did better at only a year older than this fella. The odds are strongly against him.
